My daughter keeps a wide assortment of reptiles, some of which require humidity levels in the 60-80% range. We typically rely on misters (both manual and automated) when the normal tricks of the trade aren’t adequate to keep the RH high, but there have been times when spraying just isn’t enough either; so, we’ve become increasingly interested in humidifiers and foggers.Although tons of literature has been written about misters versus foggers vs humidifiers, this review focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of this unit, the ReptiKing Humidifier, only. In terms of semantics, it’ll be referred to as a fogger in this review as the manufacturer refers to its “fog outputâ€.Like many, this fogger takes up space, standing approximately 11†high (without tubing) with an 8 1/4†diameter footprint and it resembles a room humidifier with an accordion-style flex tube attached to the top. Unfortunately, the resemblance doesn’t end there - it is also a pain to refill as well. The unit must be partially disassembled in order to remove the water reservoir; then, after unscrewing the cap, the tank is filled (we always use distilled or filtered water) and the lid is replaced. This sounds simple enough, but each time when the tank was flipped back over in order to realign it with the base unit, it leaked all over the floor until it was properly seated - which took time. We fervently hope that this will be a weekly exercise at most. The flex tube can be challenging to install depending on the circumstances. We weren’t willing to drill a hole in one of the PVC enclosures just for test purposes, so we chose to experiment with the unit on an Exo-Terra open screen-topped terrarium. Although there are multiple ways to mount the hose (cutting a hole in the screen, etc.), my daughter simply attached a long twist-em around the tube, fed the twist tie through an access hole in the top, then bent the end to hook it in place (see photo). This setup proved surprisingly effective - it kept the hose flush to the screen despite the fact that the enclosure was bumped and jarred several times. The package also included (2) tube guides with suction cups (that actually adhered to the glass!) to help with installation. The ReptiKing Humidifier emits an ultra-fine mist and is extremely quiet and effective. Although it was tested on a smaller terrarium, it is a powerful unit ideal for larger enclosures - preferably ones without a screen top which could possibly rust due to the water which collects on it. I’d recommend a permanent installation as well as I don’t find this unit to be particularly portable due to the issues with hose installation. The fogger has a continuous dial, so output can be finely controlled and, with a little time and patience, I’m confident we’ll get the exact results we require. I’ve included several time lapsed photos showing the fogger in use.Although it would be ideal if it could be filled from the top, I would actually purchase a ReptiKing Humidifier if the need presents itself and this one proves durable over time. I’ll update this review if any issues arise, but, for now, it’s a solid 4 stars (it would be 5 if it was a top-fill unit).

Works great, easy operation. The only major problem is there is no splitter tube to allow for two hose use. The nozzle size is not provided in any of the product’s descriptions and the generic splitter I bought to go with this fogger had a diameter fitting too small to connect to the nozzle on this machine.
