While many people will use these strips to test whether chlorine levels have been achieved, I used them for the opposite purpose—de-chlorination level testing. After chlorinating a private water well to disinfect it, there is the problem of flushing the chlorine from the system to prepare it for regular use. These strips will remove the guess work of knowing when you have achieved the goal of lowering the level to near zero. Without these strips, various water outlets may hold high levels of chlorine that would be dangerous for water use or consumption. The strips are easy to use by just placing one test strip under running water to wet it and afterwards comparing it to the color chart. You will know in an instant whether a particular outlet is now safe to use.

I like to make my own hypochlorous acid sanitizer because the cost of force of nature is high. These strips work well to help test for the right amount of chlorine. I had other strips that did not test accurately at all, so these are a welcome addition to my chemistry!

Now I know for sure if I am using enough bleach to sanitize my well and when all of the bleach has been flushed out of the system afterwards. No more smell guesstimating!

I tested these strips on various strengths of hypochlorous acid around the house (different products from different manufacturers) and the ppm levels correlated correctly with the various concentrations of hypochlorous acid. I.e. .018% had a higher ppm than .01%. all seemed to be in the correct range for disinfecting.

The test strips I was using before were all shades of the same color, and it was difficult to tell the actual reading sometimes. Also, the increments were not as helpful because the goal is to be at least 100 ppm but not over 200 ppm in free chlorine for effective sanitation with hypochlorous acid solutions, without the need for subsequent rinsing with plain water on food contact surfaces. These test strips with the different color indicators quickly, and easily tell me what I need to know - I just look for green now, and know it is in the range I want.

Some brands of test strips fade to white when exposed to excess bleach concentration, giving a false low reading. This brand shows the high test color even at out-of-range high bleach concentrations. The five colors of indication are also easier to distinguish than other strips which show only different shades of one color.

Made my own disinfecting solution with calcium hypochlorite. The measurements from these test strips agreed exactly with the math of the chemistry.

I guess I should have titled that accurate results first, followed be easy to use. As the result is the important piece! But I like easy!! These strips are easy to use and to me convenience is first and foremost then the result. Great value for price too!

It works. Nothing to complain.I am a bit of colour blind, but I can identify 100 - 200ppm no problem
