I used this for snorkeling in Aruba and it was great. Easy to blow up, bonus that I could put my keys and phone inside and they didn't get wet. I had to look it up on how to deflate it. Press gently down on the plastic X that's in the air hole and the air is released. Excellent choice and easy to pack in my carryon.

I've been doing more open water swims as part of my work out routine and I'm a horrible swimmer so I take a ton of breaks. That means I generally stay close to shore. My friend told me about these tow buoys so I thought I'd give it a shot and it's a lifesaver (literally). Here’s what I like and don’t like about Restube Swim buoy:****************************************************LIKES*Design - I love the design of this thing. It's simple but very effective. It's basically just a bag separated into two compartments. One side is a sealed pouch with an inflation tube that acts as the float and the other half is a roll top dry bag for storing gear. It attaches to you via a nice long adjustable strap that you can wear around your waist. It has a clever emergency release system that lets the bag break away from the strap under high forces, just in case it gets caught on something while you're swimming. Throw your shirt and phone into the dry bag, roll it shut, blow up the bag with a few breaths of air, clip it on and go. The split design even lets you open the dry bag to get to your stuff without dumping the air out.*Safety - the bright yellow is a great eye catcher for improving your visibility while swimming in open water. The buoy provides enough flotation to keep my 190 pounds afloat when I need to catch my breath.*Storage- you can fit quite a bit of stuff in the dry bag portion.*Portable - this rolls up nice and small when its deflated so.its easy to pack or slip in a pocket.*Adjustable - the strap has adjustable buckles. It expands to fit a wide variety of waist sizes and you can adjust the length of the strap so you can control where it floats behind you while you swim.*Value - at $31.99 at the time of this review, I think this is a great deal for something such a convenience and safety accessory.****************************************************DISLIKES*Instructions - there weren't any inflation instructions in the bag it came in though there are some dry bags instructions printed on the bag itself. It's simple enough to figure out but it would've been nice to have something...especially to explain the dump valve.*Dump Valve Design - the dump valve is a little difficult to access. The cap that covers it has a little tab that you can use to.press.the plunger down to release the air. It works but it's a little awkward.****************************************************Overall I'm extremely happy with this float buoy and would definitely recommend it.

This is a combination swim buoy and dry bag. Fully inflated, the bag measures about 19†long and 9†in diameter. It is made of a tightly woven polyurethane and comes in a bright yellow color. The bag contains an air bladder with an outer covering that serves as a dry bag. The Restube logo is prominently printed on both sides. The bag is inflated by mouth from a valve on top. The valve contains an inner piece that restricts airflow out. The bag can also be inflated with CO2 cartridges. On top of the bag is a strap attachment that measures 1†wide by 1.25†long and can be used for essential equipment such as an inflator or GoPro mount. The bottom of the bag opens up as a dry bag and accepts a variety of objects up to 11†wide 15†long. Larger objects must be loaded before inflating the air bladder. The dry bag seals by rolling 3 times and then clipping the edges together. A waist belt is included with an attachment that will break with force.I find this bag great for snorkeling. When not in use, it packs up very small and is easy to slip into my suitcase. It adds visibility when I am floating about in the water, and provides a safety cushion to rest on, just in case. The dry bag works quite well. Still, for critical equipment such as phones, I would wrap the equipment in a ziplock first before putting it in the dry bag. Inflating this bag by mouth is not easy until you can figure out the valve system. Overall, this bag is a great swim accessory.

Overall the product is great, but the valve cap already came off after like 3 uses (although the valve cap is kind of useless in a way, you don't really need it). It hasn't broken or anything but I am somewhat suspicious of the valve leaking air over a long swim. But I don't really have a comparison to other products, so overall it functions very well. There is no leaking of water into the bag whatsoever and it can carry a lot of stuff!

This device is a combination dry bag and air bladder. As such, it has two separate air pockets for better fail safe buoyancy. The air bladder is easy to blow up, the valve is well designed so air cannot escape back out unless you push it far into the neck. This device will work fine as a 10L dry bag for carrying electronics and dry clothes in a paddle boat. The triple rolled neck seals well.I plan to use it as a safety marker for snorkeling (legally in FL one should have a dive flag float). It would be ideal if they offered an optional red and white dive flag color scheme. If you actually want it to function as a buoy, you wouldn't want to load up the dry bag with a lot of weight, but you can carry your valuables (car key fob, cell phone, and wallet) with you while swimming. As an added precaution, I would put electronics into a smaller waterproof container (eg, Ziplock freezer bag) inside the dry bag.

Ultimately very happy with the function of this swim buoy. I wasn’t sure how the dry compartment worked, but upon inspection it’s clear the inflatable aspect is a plastic square bag inside of the yellow outer waterproof material. You inflate it by blowing in the small black valve at the “top†of the buoy, and deflate it by pressing the yellow screen inside the valve, which admittedly took me a few minutes to figure out. The strap is a bit “sharpâ€, and would need to be worn down a bit to be comfortable, it’s long enough to trail behind while swimming. Definitely essential for any open-water swimmer for safety.
