I got these bags so I wouldn't have to use those plastic produce bags at the grocery store. I subtracted a star because of the plastic used for the closing mechanism-it was supposed to be wood and it's not. No biggie but it completely negates the purpose of the bag which is to reduce plastic use. Anyway, besides that small disappointment I love the bags! Most grocery store check out clerks can see through the mesh fine and can see the fruit I'm buying. Some have had issues but I just tell them what it is in those cases. I keep the produce bags in one of my reusable grocery bags and I take them all in with me when I do my shop. I honestly never even thought about the plastic bags for produce, and I've been using reusable bags for years! These are a good quality and in very pleased-besides the plastic toggle. They should also reconsider the packaging-they came in a plastic bag within a box. Totally unnecessary-these can't get damaged in transit and they could be wrapped in paper easily. Just a suggestion! People who buy these are probably trying to be more eco minded so the plastic bag is a slap in the face. I haven't had to clean these but if I did I'd just have wash them. But again, I don't need to clean them. I don't use them in the fridge, I empty the contents and put the bags back into my car until the next shop. I read some people keep the produce in the bags, in the fridge, but that's just not what I do. I would probably look for a bag with no toggle or a wooden toggle next time I need produce bags, but these are going to last a while. Even if the plastic toggle breaks I can just do a slip knot or something.

These are fantastic reusable produce bags that we love using at our farmers market instead of using the clear plastic bags they offer. They hold a lot too! Even the smaller size bag can fit up to 5 medium size oranges.
