These are polyurethane steering bushings. They are exactly that, and exactly what they should be. They are the right size, and appropriate durometer (hardness). Steering feel improved immensely compared to worn out stock rubber on 2000 LX470. DIY instal wasn’t too bad with rack in vehicle, just required a little creativity.

Been about a month, and so far, so good. Bushings fit my 2002 LX470 perfectly, and did not have to replace the whole steering rack to do so. Just replaced bushings.

I’m glad I bought this when I did the rack replacement because I needed the largest part you see in the photos. The replacement rack had regular rubber bushings I intended to use but after reading some sites, I thought I’d use these since I do some off road driving. I’m fairly adept at making things work even when it seems like it won’t but I couldn’t change these out. There’s probably a formula for making it happen but I wasn’t able to keep the two sides from popping back out while trying to insert the metal sleeve. It may have been the beer but I doubt it. Regardless, I’d get these again if I need another rack changeout

Tightened up the steering. Runs like a new truck now. Pretty tough and tricky install without some unexpected tools. A medium woodworking clamp with screw tightening capability really helped. Also used a long bolt with some washers and a nut to evenly compress the bushing into the rack. The upper halves are by far the most difficult. The U-bolt side is fairly simple at least.

Bought a lx470 with some shot bushings on the rack and pinion. It was scary to drive on winding roads and the dash lights would come on with the loud beeping sound. After installing this , all the lights went away and the steering improves drastically. No more wandering steering wheel.
