I have used the r4330 to plane 2 X 6 and 2 X 8 redwood boards to 3/4" stock that I used to build a 5 Mission table set. The cedar I used was very old boards 4/4" stock that went thru the planer for 3/4" tops and shelves to the redwood tables. Not a hitch with the planer. I then built the same 5 piece set out of red oak and ran all that lumber thru the r4330. Again with no problems. After a desk built with planed boards, it died when I began my current new project, a Mission display case. I bought a new r4330 the same day the bearings in the r4330 motor fried. I didn't fret about the dead r4330, I knew what I'd fed it over the 4 years I used it. I get a bit of snipe on the last 2-3" of boards, but no other problems. I also notice that the surface of really any wood I've used is smooth enough to start a finish at 150 grit. The r4331 I replaced the r4330 with was actually an error in shipping. I didn't want the r4331 model because I knew the r4330. But, I kept it because Ridgid has made several improvements to the r4330 I like. Particularly the hose chip disposal and especially the Ind-Icut 1/32" cut calibration are very handy. That's why I kept thr r4331.

I needed a new blade lock bar and rigid no longer produces the lock bar making the machine useless. This is a well documented with a number of parts unavailable on this machine in addition to the lock bar.I will never purchase another rigid tool.

I was please to find my Ridgid planer for $369 and free shipping. It was easy to set up and it has the right features to ensure quality work. I reviewed quite a few brands and I believe this one had the right features and price to be the best value.

I bought this almost brand new from someone who never used it. When the blades are sharp it does a great job. But sadly as much as I try to adjust the tables for it I can't seem to get rid of the snipe....

The ideal home planer, easy to adjust and use. Takes wide boards up to I think 6 Inches and I've planed very thin boards too.

I have had this planer since 2007 it was working just fine until the other day it dug in to a piece of cherrywood I was running . It broke a knife and bent the lock bar that holds the knife in place. No problem I thought at the time I will call Ridgid and get a new replacement part. Only one problem they do not make parts for this planer any more so if you buy this product your on your own if you need a part to fix your machine. Buy yourself a machine that has a support system in place to back you up you will save money in the long run. One star is too many stars for this deal.

I bought this planer in April this year and in July it started making a loud noise. I was told to take it to an authorized service center an hour and a half away from me. When I showed up at the "service center" it looks like a pawn shop in a really ugly neighborhood! The first thing the salesperson states to me is that it will probably not be covered under the LSA. I do not know how he could know this with in 5 seconds of glancing at it!?!? He told me that I would be getting a phone call in 1 to 2 days telling me their diagnosis. After 2 weeks with no phone call I decided to call and check on the status of the planer. I was told that the screw that raises and lowers the unit was broken and needed to be replaced. When I told him that it adjusted up and down just fine when I brought it in and that the problem was the motor making a loud noise, he stated that he wasn't the one that worked on it so he didn't know. He then told me that none of it was to be covered under the LSA. He then stated it would cost me $180. Half of the price of the planer! It's now been over 6 weeks since I took it in and they have yet to call me once. I have had to call them four times only to be told the last two times that the part should be there today and they would be calling me tomorrow to pick it up. Still no phone call. When I called Ridgid's customer service I was told there is nothing they could do nor can I file a complaint because the service dealer has 90 days to fix your product and does not have to call you! You would think that a big company like Ridgid would want reputable companies representing them and performing their warranty and service work! I will be switching back to the competitor for all of my tools!

We are using this to plane some rough cut walnut boards for a cabinet. Works great. No problems. I would give it five stars if it was closer to $300 than $400.
