These glasses look classy and feel great in your hand--nice weight, smooth texture. A definite enhancement over the experience of drinking from an discount store glass (or similar).

With name derived from Scotland’s River Spey (and made in Germany), these are stunning out of the box. Beautiful crystal glass. Intricate design. At 15.1 ounces weight these are heavy. I prefer something a bit lighter, but heavier ones like these are popular as well. The rims are a bit too thick for my taste - odd since one of crystal’s features is that it can be cut quite thin. They hold just under 11 fluid ounces filled to the brim. They’re 4†high and a bit over 3†wide. I’ve “tested†quite a few different whiskey glasses recently with a jigger of scotch, splash of water, and a bit of ice. Haven’t yet discovered the “perfect†one. Each has attributes and drawbacks.Edit (4/19): Over the past 2 months since writing I’ve found myself drinking more and more from the Atterstone 4-Piece Whiskey Box Set (separate review) and less and less from these. If vessel appearance is important, these Speys are beautiful. If for personal / regular use, I prefer the square style (like the Attersons). The larger Ralph Lauren Brogan (separate review) are lovely when filled and have thinner rims, which is nice. But they’re heavy and have more capacity than scotch drinkers (like myself) want. If you’re the mixed-drink type, you may well appreciate all that volume. My least favorite is the twist style glass. The inside funnel shape and heavy base combine to make it very hard to judge how much liquid is left as you drink.Side Note: I recently enjoyed the 2002 movie “Spy Game†staring Robert Redford. Late in the flick Redford is seen seated at his desk alongside a bottle of scotch and a lovely tumbler bearing a striking resemblance to these Speys.
