Only used manually in hand held chuck but work fine in aluminium and light gauge steel.

I very rarely write reviews. I am a very heavy Amazon user. I spend ten's of thousands annually with Amazon both personally and for my company. First of all I wasted so much time going to local hardware stores to find a metric tap set. The local Ace Hardware store showed them in stock, but after a 20 minute ride to the store, they were out of stock. What an amazing waste of time. I tried other local stores. Another waste of time. Can never recover from loss time. I went to my tried and true option. AMAZON. I found this tap set, which was delivered the next day. It retapped a stripped hole as smooth as silk. The true test was that my metric bolt easily threaded into the tapped hole. I love this design of this tap set because it removes material as it threads in. No need to clean the threaded hole afterwards. I LOVE YOU AMAZON. Have been a user from the start, primarily for buying books. Even Dostoyevsky and Hemingway would love you, if they were still alive.

I had one of those stupid little headache jobs ... I had to shave about 1.5mm from the head of a M6 socket bolt, but had to do it accurately and repeat it several times. So my first step was to make a little fitting for my lathe that would allow me to chuck up the M6 bolt. That’s where these taps came into play. It was pretty easy work to drill a pilot hole in a piece of brass rod, then use the M6 tap to enlarge the hole and cut threads. The design evacuates chips fairly well, though the tap did clog up when I used too much cutting fluid. Overall, these taps seem to work pretty well for softer metals — for a harder metal, I think you’d need pretty much the same size pilot hole that you’d use on any other tap. For the cost, though, I’ve got no complaints.

Only used the M3 tap on aluminum and it worked very well. Haven't tried on other materials yet. These look good and well made.

I bought these for tapping the ends of some 8020 (30mm and 20mm). This was my first time tapping and I used a hand tap. The taps worked quite well and cut very easily. I didn't break a single one, and I was quite sloppy at times. I mostly used the M8 tap, but also the M5 tap at times. I've tapped about 30 or so holes with them, and they're still going strong.

I bought for my hobby room and was very impressed and pleased how great these work cutting threads in both hard and soft metals. I needed a small set that would be handy and quickly and easily used with an electric drill and vice for cutting softer materials.

Why is this thing sticky? Everything is sticky. The bag it came in, sticky. Every time I touch any of these I have to wash my hands to get whatever came on it off.

I only use them in 3D printed plastic parts from time to time. But so far, so good. Screws just fly into their holes after using these taps. No complaints, but only use occasionally thus far.

Hardened cutting edges worked as it was supposed to making threads into aluminum.

M5 broke after second hole. Used very little torque when tapping the hole.
