I'm reviewing this simply because I think it must be a hard item to advertise and sell on Amazon. I bought these, and also the 4-inch ones. I have no idea what other people would want them for. I got them as an interface between my induction burner and a kettle the bottom of which is just slightly too small for the burner to detect. The plates are indeed magnetic, and they did make the induction burner go; however, ultimately they didn't work as an adapter for my pot; I think because of the thickness they overheated and the burner responded by throttling itself to low, so I wasn't able to bring the tea water to a boil. I have not tried it with a copper-bottom pot, however. Before buying I had asked if the edges are rough, and some people said that they are. They aren't elegantly finished, but mine, at least, were quite smooth on the flat surfaces and the edges were not rough at all though slightly less even that the flat surfaces. There was also some paint on the edges but it was easy to get it off with soap and a nylon scrubber.

Going to use these for added weight and stability to the foot pedals for the Aerodrums I just got.

I used this to make a replacement base for one of my wife's garden doodads. Its original base had rusted and pretty much disintegrated. It was suitable for what I used it for. For the rest of you I would point out that on the two items I received, one side of each had pair of parallel gouge "tracks". If you're looking for something with two polished surfaces, you might want to keep looking. This stuff is hard enough that you're not going to be sanding those out. The edges weren't that great either, but with a grinder or a file you can make them paintable. Speaking of painting, I used a rattle can to spray mine. It took quite a bit of sanding to remove some yellow paint on those edges and dribbles of it on both of the flats. If you want a presentable finish, be prepared to do a fair amount of prep (I used wet/dry 220 grit and an orbital sander) and cleaning (alcohol or acetone) and use a self-etching primer.

Bought it to diffuse heat when in camping and stop having the middle of the pot burnt. I was wrong in my assumption, because most of the pots have slightly convex bottom.Well this helped a little, but since then, I've fouind a specialized heat diffuser for my purpose.
