I want a darker tone and hope this will improve things. I've been using a Rovner Versa ligature and have no complaints when using traditional cane reeds. However, the synthetic reeds I'm experimenting with are very smooth on the bottom surface. They scoot around on the mouthpiece and I almost need a third hand to keep them in place when mounting the Versa ligature with its metal spine. The Mark III has no such encumbrances, making the reed easier to keep stationary during installation. That alone is worth the cost.

This ligature is excellent compared to any metal ligature as it is less prone to misalignment, and allows the reed and instrument to sound their best. It is also reasonably priced compared with many alternatives.

I play regularly and noticed a big improvement on sound quality with this ligature. Received it well before anticipated delivery date. Easy to use and perfect fit. I appreciate the cover as well.

I am giving a 4 star review until I hear my daughter actually play (she is getting a new clarinet for Christmas).. I bought this Rover ligature based off of the high recommendation of my daughters music/band instructor.. He highly recommended uograding the ligature to this Rover ligature. Will update soon...

Fabulous. So much better than the metal ones from when I was learning. Tone is noticeably richer and darker even when using the exact same mouthpiece and reed.

Rovner ligatures are my go-to on all of my woodwind instruments. They're well made and support the reed securely while still allowing maximum vibration. I'm sure there are some benefits to higher-end ligatures but for my needs, there's no reason to consider anything else.

My daughter really likes this ligature compared to the 2 screw old one. She says it's easier to tighten. She is a little concerned that it doesn't tighten it enough but so far we have had no issues. It definitely changes the sound quality of her clarinet. We are happy with our buy.

Nice secure ligature, but to be honest probably hasn't changed my tone appreciably - the mouthpiece seems more important for the clarinet.
