This shade cloth really helped my garden and kept it from burning up in the hot Texas sun!I liked the grommets so we could attach ropes to the shade cloth and attached it to surrounding trees.

I am reviewing the Royal Shade 50% Black Shade Cloth 8FT x 10FT Mesh Tarp with Grommets for Garden Patio, Plant Shading, Greenhouse, Pergola, Chicken Coop, Dog Kennel, Lawn sold by the Royal Shade store. I chose this item to help shade my secondary chicken coop in the summer time. I live in Arizona and the UV from the sun can be brutal, even when it isn’t over 90 degrees out. I needed something durable that can protect my chickens from the direct sunlight. I REALLY like the double grommets on the corners. This really helps protect the grommets from ripping out when the wind is blowing at 30+ mph. The edging where the grommets are installed is reinforced, which will also help protect the grommets from tearing. The 8’ x 10’ size was just perfect for the west facing wall of the chicken run. I know my girls will be really thanking me when summer rolls around again. The price for this size and quality of 50% shade cloth is very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this brand to anyone in need of shade cloth, whether for their livestock, plants, or whatever precious items need protection from the harsh UV. I use these shade cloths as a disposable item that lasts a full hot growing season (May/June through October) and takes a beating during wind storms and blistering summer heat and endless direct sunlight. They are kind of similar to mesh produce bags that onions and oranges come in and can snag easily. They don't hold up forever but they do create good shade! I appreciated that this brand came with black zip ties.If your tomatoes and peppers scorch to death in the July sun like mine do, this can help save your plants so they continue producing through the fall until it freezes.

We plan to use this more in the summertime months, but I unpackaged it and took a good look over it. It appears to be made of a decently thick material, and the stitching is strong. I've used some solar fabrics before that tore very easily when the wind would pick up - these appear to be much better!

This is just what we needed. Our porch swing has our backs to the sun, which can become uncomfortably hot. This provides enough shade to make it enjoyable. It also provides a bit of privacy from the neighbors. I like that it allows breezes to blow through, but blocks the wind a bit. Easy enough to hang too.
