Custom fit to install directly into factory mounting points for ease of installation and secure attachments. Rubber inserts around the mounting screws keep the metal euro guard off the taillight, prevents scratching and rattles.

It's been said before, of course, but I'll echo the sentiment that you should not expect these to actually protect your taillights from much of anything. In my mind they're a purely aesthetic enhancement, one of the few that I am comfortable adding to my Jeep. To me, that says a lot because by and large, I'm a function over form kind of personality.I had considered getting the (in black, not chrome), but I don't like the way they look nearly as much as these Rugged Ridge guards, and they were significantly more expensive. These are nice, solid metal guards that install quickly and easily. I am extremely happy with them. I will be sure to add a photo to the product images. One final note regarding customer service (not reflected in my rating since it doesn't involve the product itself). Two of the screws that I received were of the wrong type (I got too many of screw A and not enough of screw B), so I first attempted to contact the manufacturer for replacement screws. I never got a single response from them after several attempts. I was completely ignored. I then went to the seller and sent them an email through the Amazon contact system and got a VERY quick response, along with a promise to rectify the situation. Some time later, an additional set of screws made its way to my doorstep. Two lessons learned: 1) Rugged Ridge makes good products but will offer no support, and 2) this seller deserves my future business.

For $27 I was expecting a cheaper "feel" but these actually came in better than I had anticipated. The color is a little more shiny than I was hoping for but that's easily remedied with PlastiDip or a light brushing with high-grit sandpaper. The 4 screws that come with the product come with 4 rubber bushings for each side to keep the light guard from touching the plastic tail light assembly, adds a nice touch. Can't mess up the install, extremely easy, came with picture and step by step instructions so that even the most novice of customers can install it themselves. The metal felt very sturdy, not easily bent by any means, this will definitely protect from sticks or large debris kicking up from the rear. Essentially your taking a single point of impact and spreading it across the metal & 4 bushings so you are absolutely wrong if you think this offers no protection. I have backed over branches that kick up several times, for $27 these are great to give you a little peace of mind. They don't obscure the lights or reverse lights much at all.

There are a few reviews that claim these tail light guards are not for protection, and that anyone using them for such is basically kidding themselves. Well, I guess these guards wouldn't protect you that much from solid rock. They sure seem like they would take a decent hit from branches, and that's the kind of stuff I'm going to hit at that height. If I don't see a rock that high up, my Jeep is going to have far bigger problems than cracked plastic. Maybe that's just the trails I ride on, which are rocky but also wooded. If you're such a hardcore crawler where you're surrounded tightly by rock on all sides, I'm guessing you could afford to put corner covers on the rear tub and switch to flush LED lights anyway. The guards do look great. Black powder-coated (or bedlined?) metal, which are offset a bit from the tail light with four plastic spacers. Four longer replacement screws per light hold it all in. I've heard of an older, or maybe a competitor's, version of this product in which only four longer screws were provided for the "outboard" positions (making you re-use four original screws), but that was not the case for me- they sent eight long screws and you just have to make sure to use the larger ones on the outside. The instructions were clear, and they suggested to not to let the tail light assembly move when you remove the original screws. If it does move (as it did for me), just shift it around and you'll see how it seals best against the body and lets the screw holes align. Installation took 20 minutes, because it was 105 degrees and I needed to go inside to get a cold beer. Amateur move.I think these tail light guards match the look and use of my Jeep, and offer me better protection from branches than what came from the factory. One day I'll win the lottery, put Dana 60's and 40 inch tires on it, and I'll need something that can handle hitting a four foot boulder. For now, I am happy.

I recently purchased/installed these tail light guards on my Jeep Wrangler JK.Aside from being incredibly simple to install (replace factory screws with included longer screws), they look very nice and are crafted from a pretty tough metal. We all know that these guys aren't really going to protect your tail light, aside from maybe a stick or two.I mean face it, if you have backed into a wall/huge tree/boulder enough to hit your tail lamps, you probably aren't going to explain, "Oh no! My tail lights!"You will likely be concerning yourself with your now mangled rear-door and wheel mount, or the fact that you just crunched your corner panels. What it does do though is make the tail light assemblies much more rugged looking, and they nicely trim the rear of the Jeep. The factory tail lamps are a bit plain compared to the rest of the vehicle, this is a perfect (and relatively cheap) way to remedy that...~Rusty

Cheap metal. I repainted the whole thing before installing, even the screws. They look good and fit well, but I'm sure they won't last too long given our winter and salt abrasives on road... Maybe good for warmer climate.
