Russell Athletic Piped Change Pant-Comfort and Performance: Ideal for Baseball, Softball, and Fastpitch

I bought these as a gift for my grandson. They fit very well and we’re made well. The length was long and fit him very well. The transaction was very good.

Anyone that’s participated in organized sports is familiar with Russell Athletics and their commitment to providing quality active wear for the athlete. And their Diamond Series Baseball Pant reflects those same commitments.The baseball pant is stylishly designed to be both durable and comfortable. The double-knit polyester allows for unrestricted freedom of movement whether running, stretching or squatting; the pant moves with you while remaining innocuously comfortable. The piping along the legs and the sewn Russell logo over a rear pocket lend a professional, unmistakably athletic look to the garment. They’re a very good-looking pant on and off the field.Durability is evident just holding the pant. As the seller asserts, they are reinforced at the knees and double stitched all-around with whip stitching at the waist. The rear pockets, each with stylish button closures, are heavily reinforced with stitching at each end to prevent tearing. The double snap closures at the waist are sewn into doubled over fabric and firmly attached when closed. The waist, all the way around, is lightly padded for comfort, and encircled with the Russell logo. The belt loops are tunneled to prevent hooking the belt. The quality and workmanship of the pants fabrication is obvious and evident.The one area I’ll comment on is the sizing; it is very generalized. I’m just under 5’8”, weigh 140lbs, with a 29” – 30” waist. The small, that I ordered, is designated for a 28” waist and the next size up, medium, is a 32”. Since 32” would be falling off of me, I ordered the small, 28” size. Although not ideal, they are comfortable due to the copious stretchiness of the fabric. In fact, I still have room at the waist, although I can wear them without a belt. As a matter of preference, I would prefer that there were more room at the hips and at the crotch. As it is, wearing only boxer underwear, there is no mystery as to what I’m carrying in them. My wife thinks their sexy. For the included pictures I’m wearing underwear and over them my athletic boxers without the cup inserted.The inseam of the small is listed at 32” and I wear 30”. Russell anticipated the need for a variety of inseam sizes, and to that end has included a unique feature on the “Change Pant:” running about 1/4 of the way up the pant leg, along the inside of the seam, is Velcro. Simply tuck any extra inseam length up inside the pant and attach it with the Velcro. Instant alteration of length.I’ve worn the pants to a number of practices and have worn them twice in games. They are super comfortable throughout all play, and the adjusted inseam stays firmly in place. I’ve washed them once so far and they came out perfectly clean and without any change in size.I have no hesitation recommending the Russell Athletics Diamond Series Baseball Pant to anyone looking for a quality athletic pant. As for the sizing, you’ll need to use your best judgment to determine whether to go up or down in size, unless one of the sizes happens to be ideal for you. That said, the item includes free returns, so is a risk-free proposition. I think their awesome pants.

Good quality, good looking baseball/softball pant. They fit true to size and are very comfortable. The legs have a Velcro system to be able to adjust the length to shorten up the pantleg if desired.I found these to be on the lighter side weight wise. They are perfect for hotter days when my thicker Rawlings baseball pants would be much warmer. Although thinner, they are not “see through” as another reviewer mentioned. I did go with gray which possibly better in this regard than white.Overall: quality lightweight baseball or softball pant. Recommended.

I got these for my son for his baseball uniform. They were very long on him and he is a tall kid so I’m not sure if the size was just off or if these pants are incredibly long. We are returning them. It was a miss for us.

I normally wear 40-inch waist, and these come only in two-inch ranges, so I ordered XL size (40–42). These trousers happen to fit okay overall, except in length. At 5'10", I'm wearing pants made for a person well over six feet tall. Russell's answer is to turn up the excess length inside, where it is held in place by lengths of velcro sewn inside each leg. This scheme sort of works but looks kind of goofy. This is cost-effective for the manufacturer but inconvenient for the customer.The material feels fairly durable and will probably hold up through lots of games. And, the pants at least have a zipper fly and belt loops. I read comments about the white pants being "see through," but the "baseball gray" is fine. Also, note that the measurement chart lists "waist relaxed" as half the real circumference. XL says "20" (measuring with pants lying flat), which is actually for a 40-inch+ waist.

I like these pants, and they are made of nice fabric that holds up well to wear. The only downside is that they are a little smaller than I expected, so they fit more like yoga pants. They are flexible, though, so I can make it work.

My son will be using these pants for softball. He told me that he really likes how they feel and their great quality. THen agian, Russell Athletics is a known brand in this space.My son said they fit great. He especially liked that you can cuff the pants with velcro if they are too long 9and called that "a cool feature.")Overall, he is very satisfied with these pants.

Fit my son perfect to what size he actually wears. The quality is superb and they are light and breathable also. They look great and have held up for weeks of play now. Great quality and great price.
