I bought these for my wife, since she likes to work in the garden a lot. These two items allow her to trim the bushes and shrubs without difficulty...they are small and lightweight and easy for her to use. They are compatible with all of my Ryobi batteries, which allow her to complete her cutting and trimming chores without having to stop and wait for recharging batteries. They are sturdy and solidly made...they work well and look like they will last.

This is a little brother to the Ryobi string trimmers and the Ryobi hedge trimmers. It is smaller and lighter, making it perfect for detailed trimming or small fall cleanup jobs. I used it to take down about 50 good size hostas for the winter. It worked just as I hoped, cutting the stalks quickly, easily and cleanly. And it's perfect for trimming the tall grass left around fence posts and walls after mowing. While the string trimmer also worked for that, the line tended to tear off the paint at the bottom of the posts. This smaller clipper doesn't do that.The change from the shorter clipper to a small hedge clipper is very easy, and needs no tools. I found the hole each head has, to fit to the motor/handle was a little tight. Chasing the hole in the heads with the proper drill solved that easily.A single fully charged battery lasted as long as I wanted to use it, and the fact that it is part of the Ryobi line means that there are always lots of batteries available.I'n very pleased with this tool.

I really like the trimmer and the additional bar for bushes. It’s easy to swap out the cutting heads. My only complaint is that the blades on both interchangeable heads were extremely dull. It’s like they were formed in a metal mold and never sharpened, I had to take a file and hone each individual curve. After doing so, it cut great versus virtually chewing on whatever you are attempting to cut. Hope this helps.

This is a great little gadget if you're already in the Ryobi 18v tool family. This is great for trimming around very tight spaces (backyard lighting fixtures) that the mower cant get too. I was using a string trimmer, but the string will tear things up (like a plastic fence). Though this takes a little more effort (including bending down), it really is a more precise way of trimming. As for the tree branch attachment, that works very well - used it this weekend with good results.

I have several Ryobi tools and love the ease of one battery size. Grass trimmers work well and hedge trimmers help keep shrubs looking their best between major trim jobs. Use only on smaller diameter stems.

Received item with broken parts and was obviously used. Sent it back and ordered a replacement. The replacement never arrived and the transaction has been erased from my return list. When I received the original item which was somewhat heavy it was packed with styrofoam which did not protect the item.

This is somewhat smaller than typical hedge trimmers, but I'd call that a good thing. In addition to being able to do more detailed work, it's easy to just grab and go. It's more lightweight than a big hedge trimmer, so you can use it longer before your arms get tired. It is surprisingly capable for a small hedge trimmer and could displace a larger hedge trimmer entirely for some people.There is a limit to what these can cut, so it is helpful to have "loppers" (pruner) handy for those larger stems, particularly on larger bushes.
