Be careful, these like to set a little misaligned and the pilot hole tolerances aren't friendly to any misalignment.

With pre bulged rivenuts you get a Much better result. Most tool “kits†come with standard ones. They don’t grip as well. If holding power is critical these are great.

I tried using rivnuts but the material was too thick, these made mounting my roof piece possible. You may have an issue with whatever rivnuts took you use since the threads have to be much longer since there’s a gap where it folds down.

These Pre Bulbed shanks are worth the work. You have to drill the hole first (that is the hard part - metal flakes can burn you). But everything else is easy peesy. Forms a strong bond and is very secure.
