I bought this for my 2006 F-150 and first off, I noticed the quality of the product was surprisingly extremely high quality. From the tools it included to the bolts and washers. It comes with everything you need to install it (except you do need a heat gun for the shrink wrap.) and it has very clear instructions with color pictures. I wasn't sure how strong it would really be with only one on one end but it is extremely strong and holds back that tailgate with no problem and slowly lowers it perfectly without making a sound. I am really impressed with this product. It far exceeded my expectations. absolutely zero cons.

Installed very easily per the directions and works very well, I absolutely love being able to drop the tailgate if you only have one hand free and not having it slam open. This is much better for your truck!

Honestly - I don't know if I "like" the actual product yet....read on.... I received the product yesterday and the instructions clearly read (and I quote) QUOTE "is a 5mm allen wrench to hold the bolt with one hand while turning nut clockwide nine (9) complete 360 degree turns. see (FIG 2) CAUTION: DO NOT TURN MORE THAN NINE (9) COMPLETE ROTATIONS, DAMAGE TO THREAD INSERT OR TAILGATE COULD OCCUR." UNQUOTE Okay, since they put that last part in caps I thought, "man, I need to follow this to the letter" So, I take a red marker and mark one side of the nut and proceed to turn it exactly 9 turns. I back out the allen bolt and the part that is supposed to screw in will not screw in and the hole is now to large! This morning I call tech support and the guys say "we have tested that here, you should have only did about 5 or 6 turns!" I explained how the instructions read and he basically said "well, they are wrong!" Alright then...now I have a part on my truck that doesn't work and I will likely have to drill it out and the piece inside the tail gate will be forever bouncing around in the tail gate because without tears the tail gate apart, there is no way to get it out of there! The tech support person was very nice and is sending me another hardware package......but...if you buy this...be forewarned.....all instructions apparently are not to be followed! And woman always give us hell for not reading instructions....maybe this would have been one of those times I wish I hadn't! LOL This may be the best product on the market...but they need to fix the instructions!
