This is an aftermarket motor meant for a Salt Dogg salt spreader. It is to be placed in the salt spreader, in the back of a snow truck, and there is a connector for a controller that sits up front with the snow plow driver. It is a very powerful motor that spins in order to throw rock salt onto roads and parking lots to begin melting ice in frigid conditions.An item such as this often needs to be replaced, as it is run in undesirable conditions and can break down. Although this is an aftermarket product it works very well with the SaltDogg system. I have seen it used in other applications as well. If you are mechanically inclined, you could make a rock tumbler or similar type of project out of this motor.I would simply make sure that it doesn't void any warranty you may have for using aftermarket parts. A salt spreader of this caliber can be $500-$1,000 or more, and you would hate to lose out on your warranty benefits.

This is a larger motor with plenty of torque. It was designed for a salt spreader, but I’m actually using it to spread chicken feed with my own device. I built my own automatic feeder with a remote and this was the perfect motor for it. Kind of expensive for a chicken feeder, but I spoil my girls. I used the same spreader blade and wired it so I can connect and disconnect the power at will. If you have the original spreader this is a quality replacement for your motor, but with a little creativity I’m sure you could find plenty of uses for this on the farm.

Just what I needed to replace my old salt spreader motor that gave out on me. I also added a new cover for the motor so the salt won't cover it like the original one did. It much easier to keep this one clean and hopefully it will last much longer than the last one did. Salt kills. I really like the flang on this motor, it made it much easier to install even though I did have to drill out a different hole pattern. I also upgraded to wiring connectors to be waterproof ones. The size and power are as described.

Really well built rugged dc motor. I used this motor on a makeshift salt spreader I built so far no problems with the quality or application
