OK I just received it today so these are first impressions. WOW. The blond model I got is so classic looking, and operates just like a classic radio... tuning knob + volume, that's it. Yes there's no tone control, which I think is pretty daring on Sangean's part, but they did a great job as it really sounds good. Rich and creamy sound. The port in back gives it extra bass boost. It's not earth shattering loud, but louder than it's size would suggest, and doesn't seem to distort at high volume.5 stars for the radio receiver quality! It is very selective and sensitive on both FM and AM. Sound quality is really good. It sounds smooth, just like the old radios did, but even better. Plus there's an external antenna jack for FM and one for AM as well. Wow. And speaking of versatility, on the back there's an aux in, record line out, and (mono) headphone out jack. And to top it off, there's even a 12V DC input jack to run it off 12v (no cable with it, but that's ok). This is in addition to the 120VAC power cord, so yes it's dual powered. (would be good in an RV)To my surprise the AM radio works too! Normally radios I test are all static across the AM band, but this one does pull in some stations with surprising clarity. Bravo Sangean!I think this is a great table radio for those who are ok with mono, want simple operation, classic look, good sound, but with modern features (bluetooth and aux inputs). Bluetooth audio is loud.Do keep in mind that this product is all mono, including the headphone out jack. But for a simple classic operation, this thing sounds as beautiful as it looks.

Tunes local stations fine, it's not a serious long distance radio but rejects close stations that might interfere, has completely acceptable stability and dynamic range. The Bluetooth has paired with every phone we've tried. Sound is plenty full for a table radio. A little bass heavy and boomy, could use a bit more treble. Stuffed some cotton batting in the bass port and that helped overall make it sound more balanced. How I sounds will ultimately depend on your room so having more is a better problem than being thin. It looks very nice in the kitchen. Really happy went with the traditional dial tuner instead of the digital of the next model up. Has a nice, warm glow in the room. We tend to pick a station and leave it on all day for background music.

Very pleased with this radio. As with other positive reviews I've experienced great, balanced sound and a sensitive tuner with little static between stations. The external antenna helped bring in distant stations. Even at loud volumes the sound is clear with little-to-no speaker "break up" or distortion. Great looking wood veneer cabinet. Classic "retro" styling. Despite my mule-mouthed, cud-chewing wife I LOVE this radio! The Bluetooth pairs up easily, nice feature!

I've been wanting and waiting to get one of these for over a year now. But now that I have gotten it in hand I'm honestly a little disappointed.First the good: the build quality is phenomenal. Very solid, very beautiful radio. Knobs are smooth and sure. I have no doubt this radio will last for years. The fit and finish are definitely top tier. Stations lock in well when tuning - I'm sure that's due to a PLL tuning system. I kinda wish it didn't have the PLL circuit, but I knew going in that it would.FM performance is good with both internal and external antennas. Given the presence of interference, it definitely fares better with the external one. I have it sitting next to my computer and it does great with the external antenna.AM is a mixed bag. Definitely needs an external antenna, in my opinion. I don't listen to AM much, so it's a non-issue.Bluetooth works great and pairs easily and quickly. Honestly, though, if you just want a bluetooth speaker, there are better options out there. But, it's a nice add-on. Still not sure if I'd get the BT model again, though.OK, so the sound. The sound is a mixed bag. The bass extends faaaaar too much into the midrange so speaking vocals sound boomy and muffled. I was listening to a more bass-heavy song and every time a bass note hit it sounded like someone turned the volume down on the rest of the music. It was super weird. This can make female vocals sound richer, but male vocals tend to get stuffy and heavy.Overall, it's a beautiful radio that errs on the side of being too warm and boomy. For some that'll be great. Definitely not great for critical listening. But, great radio overall.

My wife has wanted one of these radios for along while. Researched brands and ordered this Sangean. The sound is amazing. The knobs are sturdy. The wrap around wood cover is very classy looking. Bluetooth option with USB port. Comes with antenna. She loves it ! Christmas score!

Sounds great just like my other Saegan radio. I like the USB port for charging phone except it doesn’t charge if you are listening to the radio. I use this one in my bedroom at night. I use the Bluetooth feature to stream old time radio programs. I need sound at night to help me fall asleep. The control knobs work great smooth and easy. It pulls in my local NPR station and the college radio stations in just fine.

This Bluetooth version of the iconic Sangean FM radio, dating back to 1974, is a visual and auditory delight. The warm honey-toned wood cabinet, paired with a cream-colored face, exudes elegance. The addition of Bluetooth and Aux options enhances its functionality, with seamless connectivity. The Sangean brand's reputation for excellence holds true – smooth knobs, straightforward operation, and a remarkable wood cabinet. Surprisingly, the wood quality exceeded expectations, flawlessly demonstrated in the craftsmanship. The included video showcasing the wood cabinet's creation adds to the appreciation. Despite some bassy notes, it outshines comparable radios, offering a warm, pleasing sound for news and classical music.

I've had a number of tabletop radios. As an academic and teacher, I spend a lot of time at my desk as it's where I do the majority of my work. While YouTube and Spotify are nice for background music, sometimes you don't want to be in control, you don't want to be forced into making yet another chain of decisions that is, ultimately, arbitrary. Here we find the value of the radio, a stalwart rock in the middle of the stream. While Spotify and other music streaming services offer 'radio' options, it doesn't match up to the experience of using an actual radio. But the one thing that does get in the way of using a radio is bad or imprecise tuning, which leads you to not bother with the damn thing if you can't even tune into the station you want. Even digital tuners are not immune to this problem. The Sangean tuner is far and away the best I've used. Over the course of adult life I've used handheld digital radios, vintage stereo receivers, old tabletop radios from thrift stores, and the famed Tivoli Model 1. The Sangean cabinet radio blows them all out of the water. On top of this, the cabinet provides stellar sound.A good, workhorse radio.*A lot of folks have talked about how the AM reception is bad. While it isn't as clear as the FM, I have no problem tuning into the AM radio stations in my area. I listen to a lot of sports radio during work and have had no issues.**The Bluetooth function is really useful when you do want to put on a specific album or playlist from a streaming service. Easy to pair, good connection, great sound.

This is an excellent quality radio. I am upgrading my office and trying to free up desk space. I got rid of my Dell sub-woofer and two speakers and am using this Sangean radio instead. No more audio and interconnecting cables all over the place. It is plugged in and that's the only wire. The sound quality is great and the controls are simple. I can connect to my PC via Bluetooth but the only issue I have is that I have to click "connect" on my Bluetooth settings on my PC for the PC to reconnect the Bluetooth. It won't automatically do that. I am certain the issue is my PC and not the radio. I can obviously stream any audio such as YoueTube and radio stations via bluetooth but I do like the nostalgic experience of manually tuning into a radio station. I love the radio, the build quality and how smooth the controls are. This is a radio you have for life.
