My trailer already had a breakaway, but it was old and questionable at best. This was a direct replacement with improvements. This one has led indicators to show the charge of the battery. Super nice to have. It was easy to install. I ran the power wire to the taillights since there is no other 12-volt source through the plug. Anytime I drive with the taillights on, it'll charge the battery. Should be fine for me. If you want it charging all the time, you gotta get creative and run a 12-volt wire from the truck.

Installation completed today, here are my thoughts:Came well packaged and on time. Battery was fully charged (confirmed on the bench) and lights work (indicating charge status/charging.) Came with various (typical) installation components from other kits I have used in the past, no surprise there.The fun began when it came to actually installing this.This box has a weird mounting design which simply does not work. I ended up taking the box apart and drilling pilot holes, then using rubber o-rings and silicone to seal it.NOTE: This is NOT waterproof, at all. Water WILL get into this unless YOU seal it up.The breakaway switch requires substantial force which is a plus.After A LOT of trial and error, I was able to get it mounted and sealed to my OCD standard.I can confirm it DOES WORK. I am just a bit baffled by how they expected someone to actually mount it the way they have the box molded.For the price, it is a great replacement, but to repeat:Mounting is odd, you will have to think outside the box.It is NOT waterproof, you will have to seal it.IT WORKS.

Wow, this is a great replacement trailer breakaway system in my opinion! My old system completely failed, and it was relatively simple to change over to this product. I like that everything needed was included, and it has been working great to date to keep my trailer safe. I like that there are indicator lights on the control box to show the status of the battery which is a nice upgrade from the old system. Only time will tell how long it will last, but for now I am very pleased with this product. Therefore, it receives my five star blessing and recommendation for sure!

Got this to replace a bad unit on my dump trailer. It works great, easy to install and zero problems with it afterward. Highly recommend this!

This is not a waterproof unit. There is no seal for the case. Replacing a CURT brand trailer breakaway that is currently mounted in a hard to access location on my trailer. I decided on this one, as I can relocate it with new hardware. The mounting holes are smaller in diameter, and closer together, than the other one.+Received it with a charged battery, big plus.+Breakaway switch requires force to pull out+All wiring included, along with wire rope, for the breakaway switch-Substantially lighter than the old one-not a sealed case, will see how long this lastsDid a temp install to make sure everything works, and it charges correctly. Installed on 1/12/25 so after a few months, or the next big rain, I will check the condition of the battery box and see if any water got inside.

I tested this at 10mph are ut works really well. Easy to swap out and great quality. Get it. I recommend this one after several low quality ones that were bad.

Poorly designed overall. No mounting hardware is shipped with it and requires an odd length bolt to mount. All other designs are 3 bolt, this is 4. Requires alot more labor to drill out holes. Not easily accessible to get the battery out. Requires tools vs other brands use a tab to pop open a swinging door. Wouldn't recommend when so many other brands are closer in price and easier to install.
