We had an old Bissel that was great for years until one of the plastic parts broke. Read lots and lots of product reviews to find a good quality replacement. Finally settled on the Sanitaire SC430A despite concerns about the cost and some of the negative reviews. After using it for a few weeks, I am really glad I took the chance. The design and build of this machine put the old Bissel to shame. Remember when you could take most things apart and fix them if they weren't working exactly right? This machine is from that era -- a fact I learned when I noticed that one of the corner brushes wasn't turning properly. With most units these days you'd have to return and replace the thing. Instead, I was able to remove one screw, disassemble the SC430A's corner brush assembly, seat the part correctly, and reassemble it to perfect working order. No planned obsolescence here, folks. It makes this geezer a little emotional just thinking about it.That said, there are a few things Sanitaire could improve. The most important would be to expand the usage instructions to stress the importance of the brush height control dial. If the dial is set too high, the brush doesn't reach the dirt and little to nothing gets picked up. If the dial is set too low, then it feels like you are pushing heavy furniture across the carpet. Again, frustration. Getting the dial set just right for each surface is the key.Another thing to know is to regularly use the plastic comb to remove hair wrapped around the brush axle. Unless everyone in your house has really short hair, you will need to clean it out of machine so it doesn't interfere with the brush turning smoothly. Here, it needs to be done after every use, but YMMV.Once it is working as designed, you notice how much dirt, hair, and gunk gets picked up, especially from carpets. You notice how easy it is to empty the waste without spilling it all over the place. You wonder how you ever lived without corner brushes to dislodge the crumbs wedged right by the baseboard or table leg. You notice you don't miss vacuuming.Overall, five stars so far, even with the little repair I had to do. You'll appreciate the SC430A even more when the power goes out for a few days, but your floors remain clean.

WOW! There are two features that make this sweeper worth the extra price. One is the two rotating brushes in the front that stick out from the body; they pick up right next to based boards. Another is the adjustable dial that changes the sweeping height from low for hard floors to higher for carpets. It also has a lower profile and can get under some on my cabinet overhands that my electric vacuum can't reach. It is easy to empty: the catch bin just lifts up with the pull of the lever and easily dumps into the trash. I have longish hair, ergo lots of hair in the roller. I just used a pair of scissors to cut along the long side of the roller on opposite sided under the tangled hair. The provided brush easily raked the hair out.I have had this for a couple of weeks now and have used it on low berber and plush carpets, oriental rugs, tile and laminate flooring. It worked great on all with the aid of the adjustable dial. By the way, this sweeper is made in Lithuania.

Absolutely worthless. I was really looking forward to this sweeper to clean up minor dirt and debris but it barely picked up little dust devils. My boxer pups love to chew things and I had several small shreds of wood left over from one of their chewing expeditions. The little shreds were lying ON TOP of a very short nap carpet (picture #1). You can see the actual size of one of the little wood pieces in my hand (picture #2). The sweeper pushed the wood, it didn't sweep it up. Even going back and forth, the wood was moved but not picked up. I tried to sweep up a very tiny piece of leaf on my hardwood floor (picture #3). Again, no pickup. I was so upset I decided I would just trash the sweeper (picture #4) and not bother to disassemble, repackage, and drive to the UPS store to ship it back. For those who have rated this sweeper as 4,3, or even 2 stars I'm happy for you. As for me, I'll stick with my little electric sweeper.

This DOES NOT pick stuff up off my tile or hardwood floors. Works fine on my rugs. I was hoping it would do both. My 6 year old can "sweep the rug" for me with this and that's nice. He likes to help and this is easy for him. But as for the rest of the house, it doesn't work.

The Sanitaire EUKSC430 carpet /floor sweeper works well on our low pile carpet. I have problem with the left rotary brush, it does not turn as freely as the right side, seems to get stuck somehow.

Was exactly what I was looking for instead of getting my big hoover out
