The scandvick shower handle that came with my 247 sportsman bay boat fell apart after 7 years. Not bad since I keep the boat outside under a roofed boathouse. No walls. When I found this replacement scandvick handle I was afraid the handles threads wouldn’t match the base unit. They fit perfectly, however, and I just screwed it on. So no complaints here.

I'm trying to use this with an "off the shelf" shower handle hose. I've tried three different shower handle hoses and none of them will seal properly because the threads on this shower handle are too short - as a result, the base does not bottom out onto the rubber gasket that makes the seal. As a result, water leaks past the threads, which is pretty annoying. I have tried pipe dope and teflon thread and never of them address the problem, since these kinds of "hose thread" connections are supposed to rely on a rubber gasket at the bottom to provide the seal - the threads are not designed to seal (just like on a garden hose).
