Your cart is empty. The starting point in our climbing career is of fundamental importance. It gives rise to the genetic building blocks that shape our climbing lives. The origin offers a lush leather upper, giving a feeling of padded luxury that is rarely found in a shoe aimed at encouraging people to start climbing. The flat profile and relatively relaxed randing ease the climber's feet into a cocoon of comfort. The hook-and-loop closure keeps the foot snug and well positioned during use. The origin introduces scarpa's vision rubber, a proprietary compound that is both sticky and resilient to all the conditions that new climbers feet with experience.

So, I went to REI and tried on shoes before I bought them online. The price online was better than in the store. I went to the store because everyone I have ever talked to told me that when you buy climbing shoes you need to be really careful. The shoes have very particular fits that really you can only tell by trying them on during shoe demos. I have wide feet. My regular shoes are actually special designed, so I recognized early that my needs might be more particular than most people. I found these to be very comfortable for my needs. It is a bit snug like climbing shoes should be for good grip. I am able to have some toe dexterity, which is important for scaling a wall. I like the fact that this comes with Velcro straps. When I tried these on, my feet were kind of bloated (during my womanly cycle), and they fit well then and still fit well now. I like the adjustable quality of these shoes. The only thing I don't like and wish would change is the shoe color option. The cyan green is not my thing, but I know usually other colors are more expensive. I just wish Scarpa would consider more options for those who want to color coordinate.

After reading the reviews, I knew I should've bought a bigger size just in case but I ended up going for the size 7's. Don't let the description fool you, yes these are womens shoes but they are mens sizes so make sure you're accounting for the size conversion when ordering. They're smaller than I'd like but it will do!EDIT 2021: after owning these shoes for years, I can say that I was a fool when I left this review! After climbing in them and breaking them in, I think the fit is perfect. They were a bit tight when I first got them but over time they’ve stretched ever so slightly to be a great fit. I love these shoes!

I have especially narrow and flat feet and felt there was too much volume in the heel, and on top of the foot. Velcro straps just couldnt get the fit tight/custom enough. That being said, it's a great quality shoe for the price, the leather feels great - if you have an average or wide foot it could be the perfect shoe! It does stretch 0.5-1 sizes so I would suggest getting a smaller size and letting them stretch out. I opted for the La Sportiva Finale in the end which fits me way better and has the adjustable laces for a snug fit

My normal shoe size is 6.5 and I got a size 7. They are tight but not uncomfortable for now. I hope they don't stretch too much. ( They stretched out after two months. I should get a size 6.5. )

I recommend you only buy this shoe if you need something cheap as a beginner. Plan on upgrading onto something better built in the near future. For climbing, these shoes are okay, nothing special. They are stiff but comfortable. Clearly, they are not an aggressive shoe. However, they did not last long - less than a year for me. The toe came apart and I can't use them anymore at all. I wrote to Scarpa about this but they said it was normal wear and tear and would not cover it under their warranty. Let me just say, my other climbing shoes (La Sportiva) are hand-me-downs that I've had for 2 years. On those shoes, I need the soles redone for sure but I can still climb in them, no problem. So to me, having the toe slip apart on my Scarpa's is not normal wear and tear and is a design flaw.

I upsized when I ordered these shoes, which resulted in a bad fit, and that's my fault, not Scarpa's. I gave this shoe three stars because the rubber sucks, the shape of the toe and heel sucks, and the inner fit of the heel is way too wide for me. I wear a 6.5 (women's) in normal shoes, and I ordered a 38.5 in these, which in US sizing would be about a 7.5 or 8. I wanted a comfy shoe that I could wear all day bouldering in the gym and outside. I'm also very health-conscious about my feet, and wanted to size up to avoid the acute and chronic issues that are associated with wearing tiny, cramped, weirdly-shaped shoes. If I were to buy these again, I'd probably buy a 38 or 37.5. If you're an absolute beginner, these are a good shoe if you can get them on sale. If you're climbing anything crimpy or slabby, these are not your shoes. I am constantly popping and slipping off the rock in these. The heel has a lot of volume inside, so if you've got a narrow foot like mine, you're gonna get shoe farts. However, they are very easy to take on and off, and they look cool. It is totally possible that all the complaints I've listed here are 100% due to sizing up too much, so take this review with a grain of salt, I guess.

These were my first climbing shoes, and I don't have any complaints. They're comfortable and relatively cheap. I would buy these again; Scarpa makes a good shoe.
