These are a great fit for a real that is no more than 4 in from the wall. Unfortunately grills are used quite a bit in the supports give out every 10 years or so. These are easily installed and are fairly sturdy. I would suggest using longer screws then what is sent with the package and also make sure that they are supported with the stud.

If you have a handrail on your stairs eventually you will need to replace these brackets. These are a good looking option that is easy to install

The only issue was with the screws, I was using a power tool and the heads would tear off when snugging up in oak.
