I've tried other brands and always come back to Scotch blue. It just works. Not too sticky, works well on trim and smooth drywall. Just insure the surface is free of dust. I usually wipe all my trim and walls down with a damp cloth hours before I plan on applying tape. Amazing the amount of dust you don't see! Once I do that, this tape adheres well. I've never had an issue with it tearing my drywall, and I've probably painted close to 150 rooms in the last 10 years. Snagged this on a open box deal from Amazon Warehouse which made it even more of a bargain. There are less expensive brands out there, but for me Scotch blue works every time, reason enough to keep buying it.

I had previously tried using some cheaper painter's tape, which was awful bc it ended up being not really sticky enough to keep in place - resulting in a painting mess! However, Scotch Painter's Tape was the exact opposite experience - easy to apply, sticks and holds in place without damaging the surface, and a simple peel off when your done. Great product! Highly recommend!

I have found this a good tape for painting but with some qualifications. It is very sticky compared with other brands which has pluses and minuses. On the plus side you can make razor sharp lines between one paint and another with this tape. Also, there rarely is any bleed under the tape and it comes off with no residue whatever. On the minus, it is harder to manipulate and place and sometimes harder to remove--especially if you try to strip a really long line of tape from a wall to ceiling junction all in one piece.. I also think that the tape is a bit on the thin side, and thus tends to tear off mid-piece a bit more often when removing it than some others. Because of the latter concern I would not use it again for really high, hard to reach ceiling masking.Otherwise: very satisfied.

I use scotch tapes for so many applications including painting, woodworking and other DIY tasks at home. It is undoubtedly the best tape and worth every penny. Other tapes tear and produce inconsistent results and is sometimes hard to remove after it's intended use. Very happy with this product.
