This is a quick and accurate tool for setting the spacing between your bench grinding wheel and the tool rest (1/8â€) as well as the gap between the wheel and the safety guard (1/4â€). It comes in a nice plastic case but with the attached chain and magnet I keep it hanging from a metal shelf bracket right behind my bench grinder so I don't have to look for it whenever I need it. The magnet and chain is a very good idea as is the shape of the tool, which features a flat portion to set upon the tool rest. Handy device indeed for any bench grinder owner.

This gauge is exactly how it is described. It's hard to ding it for quality, but it just feels the price at the time I got it was a bit high for something of such simplicity and limited use.

So I like this measuring piece, even though I do use a wheel pass the amount that it states. Measurement is pretty on however, my grinder is aluminum therefor I could not connect the magnet to anything. It’s nice to keep with the grinder and give you an idea if you’re at a shop as to where you’re getting past a possible safety limit.

This is something that's not really necessary, because if you own a grinder you have a way to check, but it's nice having an accurate gauge that's always at the grinder station. As you can see from my photos, there's two accurate width gauges, and as magnet on chain that clearly holds the weight of everything. It's also steel with laser cut markings, so the size won't ever wear away (should be obvious anyway but, you know...) and it should last forever.
