Cheap enough and seems to do the trick for the distance we swim apart. I used to use a couple of hair bands and steel washers. This is more elegant by far. Hope I remember to take it off the rental tanks on the boat ... yet another thing to forget !!

It's not the best type of tank banger, but it works 'ok' if the ball is in the right spot on your tank. My friend lost his on a dive (may have fallen off, but we can't confirm). It's also a small hassle to get on and off your tanks. There are definitely better signaling devices out there, but for the cheap price, it's worth it!You may need to use the device several times to get attention. I'd recommend a good rattle/stick instead 1) to save you the hassle of getting it on/off your tank, 2) to save you the frustration of having the ball in the wrong spot when underwater, 3) to make a loud enough noise (the sound is dull) and 4) to prevent yourself from losing/forgetting the device each dive. I wish we spent a little extra and got my friend a better signaling device.

The band snapped before I was able to use it even once. Went to put it on my tank and it broke. Amazon refunded me.
