Works great! Used it to import some video from an old Camcorder to the PC. Worked great and all plug and play.

Does not work correctly. Frequently drops the FireWire device, usually in the middle of transferring a file. Sometimes it drops the FireWire device just for a moment (but of course just long enough to interrupt the transfer), other times it drops the device HARD and you just can't get it to reconnect. You hear your computer happily singing away those little tunes when a device is added, then removed, then added, then removed, then .... You get the picture. It's a pain to put a card in a PC do when you do, you'd at least like it to WORK.

tried installing into different computers (win xp, win 7 and win10), using 4 and 6 pin cables, different windows native 1394 drivers, but no joy.

I have an older Presonus mixer I use for recording music that is firewire. My new recording PC is half width and doesn't have a 1394 port. I bought this on a chance and it worked great. I installed it in windows 11 and drivers autodetected everything. 5/5

Great product. Installed on my Asus Z87 Deluxe motherboard, with Intel I7 processor and Windows 10 64bit. Driver installed itself in a second and all was up and running smoothly, without crash or anything. Can now use my old Canon Optura 40 camcorder as a surveillance camera or with Skype, via Splitcam.

Compatibility on Win 10 with my Canon FireWire camera. Enabled me to capture an entire mini DV tape without dropping frames, but not compatible my Profire 2626 Audio device which needs a Texas Instruments TI chip.
