Updating my review from one star. We originally tested this mat out and it did not work - likely because we were testing it out on a rug and the cats weren't putting enough pressure on the mat as a result. But once we put it on a hardwood floor it worked great. The seller reached out to help troubleshoot and we were very pleased with the support offered. We purchased this to help train our cats not to scratch and rattle our door and child's door at night and during the child's naps. It has been a life saver, we are finally getting back to normal sleep!

Works better than I had expected. When the word "Static" is used, I had the idea that it uses a charge like "static electricity," like when you walk across a carpet and get a static electricity shock when you touch something. The shock from this device is much stronger than that. A pet will not soon forget the shock from this device. It's more like the shock you get when you touch an electric fence on a farm that's used to keep the livestock away from the fence. The battery life is better than I thought it would be, they are the same type as used in smoke alarms, and last for a long time, maybe weeks at least it would seem, and there are re-chargeable batteries available, which the seller recommends, that I have found to be very good, charge fast and long lasting.I have neighbor cats that come onto my patio late at night because they sense the smell of birds that use my bird baths and feeder during the day. And as we know, cats like to mark their territory with urine, which I do not care for. I don't mind if they just want to hang out and harmlessly lounge about, but they come around late at night and are an annoyance, in addition to urinating, they trip my security camera in the wee hours, and I get woken up by an alert.I had been spraying the path to the patio with Vinegar or Ammonia to keep the cats away, but it takes time and the smell is annoying to not only the cats. I'm sure this device will be much more effective in training the cats to stay away. I only use it at night since I don't want the birds to get shocked. It's rated as an indoor item, but works well outdoors if only at night, as long as it's not raining.Overall, it seems to work well, my security camera caught a cat walking onto it, and I was pleased to see that it didn't harm the cat, which seemed to be intrigued with the mat, but not intrigued enough to come back for more after it encountered the electric charge being applied to its feet.

Was really excited to get this. It doesn’t work at all. Have a cat that has decided my home office is her place and started marking in here and making it smell like pee.Bought this to train her not to come in, but doesn’t work at all. Carefully read the instructions. Trimmed her claws to make sure they weren’t too long. Her paws aren’t furry. Pushed the button on the mat and let it calibrate for the full minute. Short pushed the button till the green lights on both static and tone were blinking green every five seconds. What the manual says means it is working.Thought it was maybe that the mat was new and still a bit misshapen, so turned it off and laid it out all night with some items on top to flatten it out.Next morning did the same routine. Push button and let it calibrate for one minute. Change to static and tone and made sure green lights beeping every 5 seconds.Put some food in my office so she’d follow me in. She stepped RIGHT on the mat. Just stood there too. Long enough for me to think “wow this doesn’t work at allâ€, and then even longer to where I thought “I should take a picture of thisâ€. Stood on it for a good 30 seconds and nothing.I thought still maybe her feet were too furry since the instructions mentioned it so put my hand directly in the middle and pushed down. Held for a good 30 seconds and nothing as well.Battery is fresh out of the pack and fully seated. Followed all instructions (including battery pack facing up). Doesn’t work. At all.

It definitely works. The shock feels about like an e-collar correction. I test products before using them on my animals so that I understand what it feels like. It’s not a nice feeling, but tolerable. Has definitely kept my two cats off the counter. I will say though, it drained a fresh 9V battery in ~1 week. That was while leaving it on all day though, so if it’s on/off with moderate usage, the battery may last longer. However, in the week that it was on, they learned that the mat isn’t a good thing, so the battery being burned out doesn’t matter.Edit: honestly, my battery may have just been trash. Bought rechargeable 9V to swap so I can have continual “on†but the one I put in has lasted for upwards of 3wks.

Given the wide range of ratings on this item I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I bought it. I have a very determined little bugger who insists on jumping up on top of cabinets, shelves, china closet, etc, knocking everything all over in the process. How he even jumps as high as he does I can't fathom. It's a wonder to watch, but was wreaking havoc everywhere. I started by putting this on top of my china closet, since that is the most often chosen place for him to jump up to. I did tape one edge of it to the china closet so it wouldn't budge when he jumped up. Later in the evening, like clockwork, he jumped up there. He got a little shock and twitched, then sat down. A few seconds later he got the second shock, and he did not like it at all and immediately jumped off, giving me a dirty look in the process. While he had not seen me move from my chair, he intuitively knew I had something to do with it. A couple hours later, he took another stab at it, got shocked again, and immediately jumped off. I'm going to leave it there a couple days to see if he tries again, then move it to another place he's been frequenting, but this sure seems to work. It's super easy to prepare - just have to reverse roll it for a few minutes so that it will lay flat, pop in a 9V battery, choose your tone/shock, and walk away.

Works well to keep pets out of areas that they are not wanted

Works!!!!! Cat stays away from wherever scat mat is placed. After initial shock, don’t even have to turn it on. She sees it and walks away. Would recommend. Purchased an additional bigger mat for couch.

This product definitely works. Hands-down five star I believe in it because it only has to zap the pet once maybe twice if you have a really brave pet. I’m not kidding no joke once, and the second time he tried wasn’t a good situation. He knocked over a couple things so that in itself scared him it does take and require a 9 V battery and I’ve had no issues with it. I even zapped myself by mistake once so be careful because it will zap you very quickly and it gave me a little bit of sense of what my cat felt. So yeah get it. Buy it if you’re having trouble with the pet on a table or a counter that you don’t want them up on do it ðŸ‘🽠up five âï¸On the little bit of a downside is that he did have anxiety when it first happened so for a few days, you know he took that anxious little pose that cats do all crouched up paws underneath themselves just kind of looking afraid and you know they’re anxious, but it only lasted for a few days and now he doesn’t go up there anymore. Good value its a durable plastic and the size is nice and long for tables or counters.
