I have had more expensive hand winches, but none better than this one. In my application the “high gear†is more than strong enough, have not needed the “low gear†yet.Always get a winch rated higher than the most weight you expect it to pull. However, I suspect this one would pull significantly more than it is rated for. Not recommending that however!

My older trailer winch wore me out, as a senior citizen I needed a better winch to get my boat up on my trailer. This is not a two speed winch, but makes winching up my boat with either arm very easy. It can rust, but if you spray it down with WD40 it will my maintain it quality.

This is a well built 3500 lb winch! Works and installs well. I give it 5 stars on everything except the overall and the only reason it gets 4 on the overall is that it does not come with a thimble to protect the cable as it goes around the hook. Any time you wrap a cable around you must have a thimble or the cable will fray and break fairly quickly. A thimble is only a 50 cent part but absolutely necessary!

The winch will not lock in reverse if needed. Had to install a spring on locking lever so that it would lock in the release direction

This winch works smoother without any problems than another brand I was using to raise the ladder going up to the loft in my storage building.

This is made-in-China crap. If you put too much stress/preasure on it, it will jump teeth, and the locking mechanism falls out of place.I bought it to replace the wench on my boat trailer and it's going to end up in the trash. I have used it several times and every time I have issues.Complete junk.

installed today and had to remove all the existing cable to get bolts to mount properly, no big deal though. replaced the cable with one much longer and this was a breeze as well. no special tools required. very nice product and very heavy duty, well built. really like the forward and reverse ratcheting modes.
