The SEN01114 flame sensor monitors the burner to detect whether or not a flame is present by sending a DC current through the sensor via the flame itself, received by the computer. If the flame sensor is defective, the furnace may not heat, or start and/or shut off after a few seconds to a minute continuously or intermittently after starting. This part is the most commonly replaced part (after the air filter) available, have your furnace operating smoothly in 36-48 hours in most areas of Canada/USA.

First time homeowner, and broke stay at home mom. Let me tell you, I do not know much about HVAC BUT when my furnace kept trying to turn on non stop before switching over to actually running for awhile, I used the internets to tell me there was a bad sensor. I found this little doodad, after Googling the furnace brand and serial number. It showed up quickly, and I was able to replace it easily on my own during baby nap time. And you know what? As soon as the heat tried to turn on after replacing this, the old furnace booted right up no problem. Totally worth the money, and small time commitment. We saved so much money by not calling a service to come out.

Should last forever since I didn't get to use it yet. Nice to have it, though, to keep as a spare! I took emery cloth to the point end of my original part and that brought it back up to good working order.
