2 lbs hammer handle broke off, this handle was longer, the top shaft was wider, had to hone it down to hammer's hole. Tapped hard to get it in, used the spline, works great, can swing as hard as desired without trouble.

Good strong, but light weight hickory. It hasn’t moved a hair since I installed it. I’ve almost forgotten I changed the handle since it feels natural in the hand like the original.

The handle was a great fit for my 2.2lb forge hammer [see photo] so I wont complain too much, but with that being said, I firmly believe that the devil is in the details. It’s the small things that make a product exceptional, and attention to detail is crucial. The center cut wasn’t perfectly 50/50—it was closer to 30/70. This means one side will be inherently weaker, which affects how well the wedge and hammer head stay in place. Another point, though it’s not a major issue for me, is the finish—it’s a burnt, dark brown. The main concern is the split where the wedge goes in; I’m considering returning it because this flaw could shorten the handle’s lifespan. The handle has some girth, the wood is great quality and overall the handle was a nice replacement for my hammer - I like the slightly more aggressive ergonomic handle for working the anvil 4-5 hours straight.

It didn't fit the (Antique) Blacksmith hammer I bought it for, but it will fit the newer one when the occasion calls for it.

Hard to find handle can now be purchased, thanks guys. My antique bell systems linesman hammer is now hanging like new and ready when I need it. I searched for months to find this handle as this old hammer has an odd size. Fit perfectly. Thanks again.

This is the second one I bought. The handles are good quality but this one was delivered without the wooden wedge and took a few extra days to arrive. It was most likely a return item. Seems like a patter with Amazon.

Rebuilt my grandfathers 4 lbs. sledge which is who knows how old. Works great and I added some length to the handle on purpose. Can either choke up on the handle or slide back for get a little more umph.

Used this handle in an inherited 3ish-pound hammer with a typical oval eye. The kerf (slot) is a bit long, so had to cut a quarter inch or so off the top after driving onto the head and before installing wedges (not an issue, since I usually cut after the wooden wedge anyway). The one negative to this handle is that the end was a teensy bit smaller than I wanted - even with the wooden wedge driven as far into the kerf as it would go, there was a little bit of volume to the sides of the eye that I wanted filled. The included metal wedge helped, but I ended up extracting two more old metal wedges from extracted handles I had lying around and adding those too, for the nice and tight fit you can see in the picture.Overall, happy with the handle. Haven't hit anything super tough yet, but I imagine it will do fine when I do.
