The SH RB-PRO was designed specifically with Rockabilly in mind, but it can be used for any musical style. The system is designed to use two included pickups, one for slap (mounted underneath the fingerboard) and one for the bridge.

It took a little dialing in but once setup the sound is perfect.

Very happy with the new pickup. You will definitely get some heads turning on how clear and punchy your bass sounds I recommend this pickup to any serious musicians out there who want to have a signature sound.

My first foray into double bass pickups/preamps, and so far so good. Affordable, easy to install (the bridge pickup did require a bit of rasping on the interior of the bridge wing to get a decent fit), and sounds pretty darn great for the psychobilly and rockabilly I play, in my opinion.Pros: Good price, easy installation, sounds good.Cons: 9 volt battery not included (a minor gripe), and tape needs to be applied to the pickup cables to keep the pickups from buzzing ((they catch the sound of the cables hitting the body of the bass) this is also a minor thing).

First off I love having the pre amp attached to the tailpiece. I love the the tones I can get. I absolutely hate that this is the most unreliable piece of junk I’ve used. It’s like shadow decided to build the best preamp on the market and at the last minute decided to cut costs and add some cheap parts, mainly the input jacks and the jacks for the bridge and neck pickup. My first one lasted about 1.5 years. The second one lasted about 2 weeks then started having the same issues. The input jacks are total junk and the preamp gets a nasty hum/buzz/ cut out on stage issue. The neck clicky is also really high pitched even after moving around dozens of times. Come on Shadow and step up your game.

I've had two of these both of which had an input jack fail. I reached out through the emails and forms listed on Shadow's website for both US and EU and ever reached out to their US distributor and received no response about repairs. They may sound great but that doesn't matter if they're not durable.
