Seller indicated that cleaning was required as I recall. I used a rust remover and it looked perfect after that and a wire brushing on the bench grinders wire wheel. I used my swiss file set to remove any sharp edges to prevent and hang ups on inserting into the female shaft. I also use "Never Seize" lubricant to prevent being locked into place. So far, good! Not any problems that were not over come in a few moments. Happy camper!!
