I've never used bristle discs before and never knew that they existed prior to placing my order. Seems like I am stripping rust off of quite a bit of metal lately, primarily using flap discs. I was really curious about these bristle discs and their ability to clean metal before painting. It's always best to use the appropriate tool for the job. With minor rust like shown in my pictures, a flap disc is too aggressive and will scratch and gouge the surface. I ordered the yellow discs, which are described as 80#, which I'm guessing is equivalent to 80 grit sandpaper. I am very impressed with the quality of these items and how quickly they removed light rust. Getting this 8 foot long rectangular tube ready for spray painting took about 3 to 4 minutes. There was plenty of 'grit' remaining for additional projects. When first looking at these, they appear to be nothing more than rubber stems affixed to a flat disk. I did not expect them to work as well as they do. This is the right tool for light rust. The bristle discs did not scratch the metal, they just cleaned it quickly. In addition to working very well, this is a complete package. My order included a dozen discs, each with a new arbor and all individually wrapped. I regularly strip paint and rust from old metal. It doesn't appear that these would remove heavy old paint, but I didn't try that. Overall, I am very impressed with the performance and durability of these discs. When the need arises, I will likely order more.
