This hip pad is definitely not as great as what others have said. I don't like the Velcro design. Hard to stick it at the perfectly right place and the edges are sharp. Above all, it doesn't protect the hip at all when you fall!

it was a gift for my husband. He wanted to get XL size and as in the other reviews the sizing tend to run bit small.He had his first snowboard run wearing them and felt they did the job.
