I don’t know whether this will work for band or not. I purchased it as a gift for my son. He collects and plays lots of instruments. He wanted this one specifically. It sounds good. It looked great when we opened the box and it appeared to be a very good quality. We were very pleased with it.

I purchased this pocket trumpet for my grandson. He loved it! It comes from India so it took a little time to get to Indiana but arrived earlier than promised. It is beautiful and sounds great. It was inexpensive and well worth the cost. Very happy with this purchase.

Before reading further, I would purchase this horn again, but please read to know why. But I am updating this a few weeks later, and I can honestly say after constant working on this horn and lubricating and everything else, it just doesn’t work.Previous review, if interested:The horn arrived VERY rough. But everything fits and works, and in some cases I’m not sure how.If you like the price of this horn, this is what you need to do if you buy it:Immediately upon receiving it, take the entire thing apart and give it a thorough scrubbing. There is some kind of grease on the tubing and that needs to be removed. It’s not on the polished brass, however. Just the parts that are inserted into the tubing. Once you’ve completely cleaned the horn, when you reassemble it, use high-quality slide Grease for a trombone. Not the chapstick slide grease. It will loosen up all of the grittyness, and there is a lot but it melts away by doing this. Really work it in to the slides well. (also keep track of which slide goes where on this horn because nothing is marked) This could have easily been done at the factory, but that step was missed. You are literally getting a horn that theoretically works because everything is the right “size“, but has not gone through any kind of testing whatsoever to make sure that everything works well TOGETHER. Remember which number each valve is because they are not marked. But, the valve casing is for some reason marked which is not necessary. We all know what valve number we push down. The number needs to be on the valve itself. It isn’t.The springs. They are all REALLY poor quality. Bent in one case. I will replace them immediately. The plunger caps were really dirty,.. like grimy. Still are after the bath. I’ll replace those as well.As for polishing, it seems the only thing polished was the outside of the horn, and that was done pretty well. As you can see from the picture, minimal work was done to ensure that the horn isn’t completely exposed to the elements. The valve caps are in terrible shape, but they do screw on to the valve casing. I’m not sure for how long though. Apply a little slide oil to all threads on the horn. Not heavy, then wipe clean. After cleaning it up as much as possible I put a 7C mouthpiece on it and played it. It actually sounds great and it’s easy to play. After I replace the springs and maybe clean the valves up a little bit with a scouring pad again and maybe again really clean out though chamber with some kind of minimally abrasive compound. Everything should work much more smoothly.I really like it and it’s very convenient and with a little care, or maybe quite a lot of care, this thing could last you a while. It’s definitely worth the money if you were looking to just try it for a year before you invested in a more expensive one. Definitely go for it. I hope my advice helps. That was the first review. After a while, this horn fails on all points. The third valve doesn’t even work anymore. No matter what I do. I’m returning it. Save yourself some time and just get a cheap Chinese horn. At least those work for more than a month.
