I purchased these with the intention of my 1 yrs old using them since it said smooth and you know they have a hard cover. Well they are definitely smooth, almost no pressure is needed to get these amazing colors! Problem is that my kid will probably smush the crayons down, she will definitely write on things she shouldn’t without even meaning to and if she were to try to replace the cap (as she loves to do) she will ruin the crayon head.For adult like me who like to draw/color. Totally recommend! Colors are vibrant, you can smear them kind of like oil pastels but not fully to that extent.

Just say NO. They are a giant mess. Not for toddlers or kids. MAYBE for teenagers interested in art. Hard to describe, but the “gel†is oily and makes big clumps that are everywhere. (Not giving it lower stars because it could be useable for others - just not children.)

The color of the gel crayons is intense,beautiful. Younger kids need to be told the crayons need very little pressure. My grandchildren used a lot of pressure, breaking it off, getting all over their hands,clothed the table,but kid wipes or plain old soap and water cleaned up easily. My granddaughter went from coloring book to table. Again, clean up was very easy. They screw up as needed,easy. I actually enjoyed using as well. The regular crayon isn't as messy. I advise a cover tshirt or mom's old shirt to protect their clothes. The color saturation is amazing,but just a little messy for younger kids. (Mine are 5,4,and 2 for example).
