I bought this since my new computer did not have firewire 800 ports. I'm using a Fireface 800 and was having trouble with the drivers. I installed the card then the 800 driver off the cd. I did have to go to the device manager and update the driver for the 3port card. Once I did that everything else fell into place and am now able to use my fireface 800.-Update april 2015 - Well there was a reason my computer did not come with Firewire ports. Win 7 rewrote their firewire drivers and they are phasing out support for it. What this means this product indirectly will probably cause some issues. I had constant crashes and blue screens while using a my Fireface 800. After a year of updating Reason and messing with firewire drivers, I was able to use it with some stability but I could not use any wave editing programs without them crashing. In the end I have sold my fireface 800 and I am downgrading my audio interface to one that will utilize USB. RME does have audio interfaces that are newer that use USB but I do not trust their drivers with windows 7 (their company has a good rep for solid drivers, go figure). In the end this product worked and allowed me to use firewire but I really should not have...

I installed this I/F card in a high end digital audio workstation after disabling it's internal VIA based FW I/F. I decided to use the SIIG TI based interface after reading compatibility information from Focusrite (Saffire Pro 14). I am happy to report that the installation and integration with the Saffire PRO 14 went flawlessly. The interface together with the PRO 14 significantly outperform the similar USB type interface that I was using (M-Audio C400). I can now set my buffer sizes larger (1024 byte), and have less latency than I experienced with smaller (512 byte) buffer sizes on the C400. The DAW CPU utilization is lower, so now I have nearly unlimited polyphony using sample intensive soft synths with Ableton Live 8.

If you need firewire, this is a good card. With limited board inserts, combining firewire with other options such as eSATA would make an outstanding card but if all you need is firewire this is good.

I had an M-Audio firewire inteface that was giving me fits, would not work or would work intermittently. Then I heard that the Texas Instruments chip was the key to getting trouble-free performance, and once I started using the Siig firewire card with its TI chip, my equipment has worked flawlessly since. Installation is a breeze, just requires a free PCIe slot and you are good to go!

I know there are many out there like me who has had problems getting their M-Audio FW-410 soundcard working with their computers firewire-port. Building a new DAW for my studio I knew this was one of the most crucial parts I needed to get working right. So I opted for the SIIG 3PORT NN-E38012-S3 Firewire 800 Pcie card, hoping it would work. This has the TexasInstruments chipset. I know SIIG is recommended by M-Audio, and I can highly do so too. My soundcard has been working perfect on every startup with this firewire card.

A firewire interface built with the preferred chipset. Buy without concern. Fired up and worked just perfectly in Windows 7.

Buy this one. It's just what you need. And it's of higher quality than its competitors. Recommended by Avid if you're looking to upgrade to a firewire audio interface and need a firewire PCIe card.

Solid and reliable, plugs straight in to the PCIe slot in the PC.the driver CD is a bit poor, just a copy of the unibrain you can download online.and the now old as new driver already out there and free.No switches and hassle free.
