It is spendy, but it is a necessity for working on carbon bikes. It's a solid item and holds the bike securely. I'd suggest searching for videos about the Hirobel clamp. Silca has some short videos that instruct how to use it and explain the high cost. You first attach it firmly to your work stand. Then slide the movable cup close enough to the center to make it easy to place your top tube on the cups. The cups are asymmetric, so you can rotate them to accommodate different tube shapes. Slide the movable cup so one cup is wedged between the seat tube and the top tube and the other between the steer/down tubes and top tube. Finally attach the silicone straps. At that point your bike isn't going anywhere.I use this on metal bikes too, just because it works so well.

Another great product from Silca. The Hirobel clamp came in a simple box - complete and without any dissappointments or missing pieces. Seems well built and durable, bit it’s not heavy or unwieldly. It’s use is self explanatory: Position and clamp onto the bike and then to the workstand. It doubles the contact points with the bike’s frame, spreading the pressure and therefore reducing the risk of damage. A simple idea that’s well executed. A bit costly, perhaps, but well worth it.

This frame clamp gets 5 stars because it works very well specially if you have a small frame. It gets a four star overall because because I feel the cost is too high and poor marketing. I didn't learn about this until recently from a Youtube video. This could have made my home repairs so much easier sooner.

After two years of risking failure by clamping Giant carbon bike by seatpost (which is also carbon, but if it fails much less expensive to replace), I got tired of stressing the material and got this device. It is pretty clever and works reasonably well. I would not try to do anything high torque on stand, e.g. removing bottom bracket - but everything else is fair game. If you care about maintaining your carbon frame, worth getting this one.

I purchased this for my Checkpoint SLR6, I’m not comfortable clamping on the seat post so thought this would be a good solution. I did not find this to be a good solution. The way the bike is supported, it is held on the Y axis but isn’t stable on the Z axis. So trying to install cranks, remove press fit bottom brackets and anything that involves lateral pressure (getting out a press fit BB) is impossible so you are left with having to figure out another solution. Great for washing bikes and holding carbon frames but not great for building variety of bikes.

This product though is worth the money if you have a bike stand and a carving frame bike. The seat post is not always accessible easily due to seat bags, lights etc. Product is very well made and easy to use.

One shouldn't really clamp carbon frames on the bike stand - there is the danger of crushing the carbon fiber, because in performance carbon bikes, that's the part that they keep light by using less carbon. Clamping the seatpost is okay, but it presents awkward balance problems on the stand, and fuggedaboutit if you have an aero seat post.Try and wait for this to be on the lower side of the pricing (at the time of this writing, it's $150 SRP, but Black Friday and other sales, it goes down to $135ish). Even at $135, it's a pricy piece of stick with rubber clamping mechanisms.Still giving it 5 stars because it saves the carbon frame, you can flip the bike upside down (SAFELY), and flip it 90 degrees to work on bottom brackets and stuff.I wouldn't say it's a must have - but it sure is a nice-to-have. And once you are using it, the price you paid is long forgotten anyway.

With this you never again have to worry about damaging your frame or your seat post when you put your pride and joy in your work stand. This is a really clever design and it is one less thing you have to worry about. Like most Silca products it doesn't come at a bargain basement price (!!). But in spite of that, I'm a big fan of most of the stuff that they sell, and believe me you don't want to damage your carbon frame by clamping it directly.

Finally a way to work on my bike without clamping and part of it. Protecting the carbon.

The usual excellent Silca build quality. Fits securely to both my road bikes. Works brilliantly. It does not fit my urban e-bike which has a very thick down tube.
