Upon opening, I was pleased with the variety of sizes and colors here. But as I started to lay them out to take pictures, I realized that MANY of them are nowhere close to smooth! I would say that, out of the 20, only 6 are pretty smooth, and a couple are smoothISH, and the rest are extremely rough and full of pits on both sides. I'm disappointed in this because I don't see how I'm going to paint on the super pitted rocks. The whole idea is to purchase SMOOTH stones! These would be a pain to return so I'm probably just going to keep them and try another company for my next purchase. Unfortunate, indeed! I was very excited based on other reviews I read.

This is a great activity for parties, girl scouts, boy scouts etc. Everyone gets to paint a rock and then you challege them to hide it somewhere with a posting # for someone to find. Then you get to see how far it travels as others find and move the rock.
