My mother is an avid seamstress and has never used anything other than Singer (back in the day of the orange handles - if you know, you know). These are very sharp, but slightly compact and work like a dream.

I took up a new hobby, which is mending my own clothes. And this kit works good. Have to know how to use this stuff though.

Seam ripper is the large size not the small; came with an adjustable half thimble that I actually like and might use. Small scizzors are ok, a little stiff, don't really use these much. But the Singer single loop Snipper is the only one I like on the market. If just fits my hand best and gives me a good grip. They do get dull because I used them extensively and buy a new one each year. And I actually prefer these for seam ripping over using the actual seam ripper. It is easier to cut the stitiches without stretching the fabric. I have tried sharpening but not really sure how to do it properly so I just get a knew one when needed. Price was good for the bundle so I tried it out.

I bought this because it had everything I need for sewing as well as the tiny scissors for when I knit or crochet. I think it was a decent deal price wise and the quality is fantastic, wouldn't have expected anything less from a Singer brand. I've had them for a few months now and they have held up nice.

The detail scissors are great: very sharp and wonderfully tiny. I use them every day. The thumb protector: never had the chance to use it. It was immediately stolen by my cats and never seen again. The snips I use occasionally, but they kind of make my hand cramp when I spend some time cleaning up a garment. The seam ripper has pros and cons: i like that it is comfortable to hold because it’s a bit longer than my other seam ripper - however, i also feel like the pointy part is a bit thick and therefor unusable when undoing tiny stitches.

For the cost, I thought this was an excellent little starter kit for someone learning how to sew. I bought it as a gift for someone new to the craft and she has been using it a lot. She said the tools are nice and sharp and work well, feeling high-quality in her hand.
