Every kid at one point or another wants to try their Karaoke skills, not to say that most adults don't. They do too! The beauty of this simple in operation and very user friendly machine is that it fits any age really.It also does really great job in letting you to sing your heart out! This has been ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for my 5 yr old for Christmas!!!!! Plays cds grest, the sound is awesome, the mic works great. Quality is awesome. She karaokes all the time and we put nightly lullabies on for her to hear at bedtime. The colorful lights are so fun for her and she loves to turn her bedroom lights off snd just have these on. Very user friendly for her to operate, not huge and clunky but not cheaply small either. This is exactly what I was searching for almost 2 months, it got down to the wire only about a week before Christmas and hallelujah, found it and was a fantastic price!!!!! I almost bought a $90 machine and SO glad I did not!!! Shipping was very fast and packaging was great!!!! THANK YOU!

This little machine does its job well and allows hours of kid friendly singing fun. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the Cd's which I assumed could be used to "sing along" to pre-recorded music OR connected to the tv for music only, lyric scroll standard karaoke. My 6yr old and 2yr old cannot read fast enough...the challenge was trying to listen to the music only (no sing along voices...I did purchase dvg but thought I read it offered two ways to use...vocals, non vocals). They got frustrated and just used the microphones to sing music free which made them happy.The dials etc. need to be fiddled with as the music sounds VERY low right out of the box even cranked up on highest volume setting. You must use the knobs to adjust the sounds so you can actually hear the music well. I wish it had came prepared to plug and play right right from the box when u have two small ones standing there waiting to become the next american idol ;)I all we love it. The lights are great. My girls turned off the main room lights and had their own disco going on. The system comes with a general cd with some songs on it but we purchased disneys frozen CD as well.I recommend if you have smaller kids who cannot read, or can't read fast enough to keep up? Get a regular cd for them to sing along to verses having them try to know when to come in on a line in the song....plus having sing along status helps if they forget the words. My 6yr old kept getting embarrassed if she forgot the words which prompted us to turn off the music and let them free-style.4 stars ONLY due to 20min of trying to set the volume correctly and because I read that CDG (grapics) also have that sing along feature.All in all this was a great investment and I would def recommend it to a friend. The microphone sound quality is like a "real" microphone. It's definitely not a "kiddie" version that many of us have tried and had kids complain "I can't hear myself well". These mics are adult worthy. I added a second mic by the same brand and not only inexpensive but great quality.This SYSTEM is less expensive than those with brand characters on it and I would wager ro say works better or as well as. My kids didn't CARE...and they asked for the frozen Elsa version and didn't bat a lash at the pink disco version they got instead :)Very merry Christmas here with this great product. Even my older girls got involved using the lyrics (which helped fhe little ones sing in time and not forget the words that came next). Family fun in a small unit. Easily portable ans not a ton of accessories to keep up with.I'm not part of the vine program. I did not receive this free for my review. I would LOVE to be part of that program. With 5 kids we buy a lot.This review is from a mom of 5....experience in all that works and doesn't work lol. This is one toy I say go for.

We bought this as a gift for my niece knowing how much she would enjoy singing all of her favorite Disney songs and boy did we get a great surprise. For starters the quality of the machine is great, we thought it would turn out to me a flimsy toy, but you can play regular CDs as well as made for Karaoke CDs. The microphone was also an amazing surprise, we were shocked it was a real microphone!! We were even able to use it as a secondary mic with our karaoke machine at home (which was more expensive then this and serves the same purpose). One of the first products I have received a genuine surprise with. Great product for kids and even fun for us adults!

For the money (somewhere around $40, as I recall), this Singing Machine SML283BK CDG Karaoke Player is awesome. I purchased it for some children to use at the recreation hall of an RV park. I sing and play acoustic guitar at the park's campfires and other activities where the kids (especially the "tween" girls) are always requesting particular pop or movie songs to which they can sing their little hearts out. I may know the requested songs, but kids of that age (unaccustomed to acoustic music) are usually expecting the orchestral background music with choral backing vocals. They were never totally disappointed with my acoustic renditions, but I could see that they were holding back. Karaoke came to mind, but I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on "transient" kids. I knew NOTHING about karaoke then (only what I saw in movies). The machine was a super big hit, but in the continuing quest for more songs, I eventually moved on to computer software and a pieced-together amateur karaoke system. I passed the small Singing Machine along to some younger grandkids who have enjoyed it tremendously in the absence of live guitar music while grandma is traveling. I also bought two additional machines for yet more grandkids. The only complaint I could possibly have is that it has led to the investment and commitment to bigger and better karaoke equipment and gatherings -- but I don't think it has seriously hurt my singing or guitar pickin'.

A lot of fun to use, super simple to setup, you need an additional mike. Did not use the cd or logged on tv, i have a chromecast for complete karaoke experience via youtube. The value/price is high comparing with other products.
