Maxiglide XC ski wax is great for all skis particularly waxless fish scale skis. Works to prevent icing up in spring conditions.

If you progress in Nordic skiing from a new pair of skis you find performance goes down slowly and then quickly. This wax can prolong the need for serious proper hot waxing. I'm to the point now where I'm putting this stuff on my skis everytime I go out. I'm also buying a wax iron to start doing it properly. But even if you're doing proper base hot waxing there will be times where this glide wax will be useful. My technique is to wipe it on with the applicator and then let it sit while I do the other ski, then buff it off with a rag. You may have luck with other techniques, but that works for me. Critically what will fail badly is putting on a thick coat of wax and leaving it; then it will act like snow glue!A great way to test techniques with this stuff is to put it on a snow shovel. If it makes your snowshovel behave great, then do that to your skis. I also highly recommend waxing the sides and even the tops of the skis. This prevents carrying around a few hundred grams of stuck snow on the tops. I even put some on the binding for the same reason.I feel like there may be conditions where this doesn't help much, but if you are lucky enough to have those conditions (AK,MN, etc) you probably know what you're doing with fancier approaches. But where the temps are annoyingly right around freezing all season, this stuff really make a soupy or wet+icy mess a lot more tolerable. So if you're just trying to get out on skis every once in a while and they're sticking badly to the snow, this stuff does a great job. It's not the best thing possible you could theoretically do for your skis, but for the effort and price, it might be.

This wax kicks a** for XC skiing/ ski touring. I apply it to the full length of the ski, including the scales. When conditions are extremely cold and you have a fresh coat on your bases, your skis will feel sticky for the first couple of kick/glides. In a minute or less they will begin to glide with ease. I love this stuff and I apply it before each outing. Nothing will stick to your bases if you use this, it’s really easy to apply, and you can bring it with you on your outing in case you or your friend is in need of a quick, fresh wax. I will be heartbroken if they ever stop making this.

I have been a cross country skiier for 35 yrs now. I always use a melt in base coat on all my skis (i still activly ski my original Lahti Spirits i got from Ames Dept. Store back in the 80s) my original base coat wax is almost run out so i decid3d to give this stuff a go. Amazing product. 2 quick coats and a bit of buffing and im stick free. So super easy to use i will probably never melt in a base coat again. A must have for xc skiing.

Cheap enough to keep in a pack, your ski bag, or back of your truck. Good enough to justify keeping one. Apply before hiking into backcountry or carry with you when just cruising, (in a ziplock). Can make a big difference if you encounter sticky snow or changing weather. Comes with application pad inside, just wipe snow off ski, apply with pad, buff it out, rock n roll.

While this product is messy to apply, it is fantastic for waxless skis. I was shocked by the quick delivery and pleased with the lower price.

This is my 2nd review.I used this product on the tips and tails of 2 pairs of skin skis. Both sets, while skiing, experienced skin detachments from the front. Skin adhesive severely softened on both sets. I believe the oils from the Maxiglide migrated rearward (from forward motion) effecting the front skin area. I did not expect this as I have successfully used this lube on other fish scale skis.

I have used this product for a number of years and am a fan. It lets me cross country ski in warm weather when the snow is wet. It's a worthwhile product.

I use it every 2-3 outings. Much less snow sticking and glide well.

Very disappointed with the results of what is a fairly pricey wax product. In fact, I am bewildered by the favorable reviews. I applied the wax, as instructed, on the glide section of my skin skis, and thought I was skiing on Velcro! The “Maxiglide” was “Miniglide” at best!!
