Overall excellent product that takes some adjusting to work properly. It is accurate, we took some kids to a camp at Warner college and the laser 40's were almost identical to the speed gates I used.

Seems like a great idea, but the 2-AA batteries aren't powerful enough to run the unit. The timer doesn't register when the runner passes the gates, even though the light on the gates trips when the runner passes by. I've noticed you have to be no less than 10 yards from both gates (start and finish gates) for the timer to register when someone crosses them. If you're timing a 40 yard dash, as the description says it can go that far, it's impossible to stand 10 yards from the start and finish gates unless you run along with the sprinter, which is currently what I'm doing. I'm less than 10 yard from the start gate as the sprinter starts. Then I run along with the sprinter to try to get within 10 yards of the finish gates in order for the timer to receive the signal. If I'm not close enough to the finish gate by the time the sprinter crosses it, the timer doesn't receive the signal and it doesn't stop recording, so I don't end up with a finish time making the product useless. Basically, the unit isn't powerful enough in order to work properly. If you have brand new AA batteries (which you need 5 pairs), you may get it to work up to the 40 yards, but not for long. As the batteries start to die, which they do as soon as you start to use them, the distance the timer can read the gates starts to drop. After using for a few mins, I'm no longer able to register a 40 yard dash by standing at the finish gate. I have to stand in the middle to run along with the sprinter in order for the timer to work. And the included batteries, which are cheap, really struggle. I had to replace those almost immediately with expensive Duracells. This product is a good idea, just wasn't fully designed to work properly. I may rewire all the units to take 3-AA batteries instead of 2 and see if the extra voltage of the 3rd battery will allow the timer to register the gates up to 40 yards, but my recommendation is to avoid this product altogether. I know gates are normally $400 and up, so this product would nice at this price point, but what's the point of purchasing something that's just going to end up being a paper weight. Now, maybe I got a bad unit, but for me, it doesn't work. Like I said, I'm going to play around with wiring it for 3 batteries. Will that ruin the unit, maybe. But at the moment it doesn't work, so I might as well try to turn this paper weight into something useful. Either way, I'll be investing in another unit, which will be more expensive but it's better than throwing away money. It's too bad, I really wanted these to work. It's such a basic function and I don't see why gates are so expensive, but I need something that works and is reliable, and my experience has been that his product is not it.

The only down side to this product is I bought two of them and I cannot use them in lane one and lane 8 for block starts because they start when the first beam is broken and both stop when one person finishes... I wish they would be on separate frequencies...

Setup was easy. Would recommend making the sensor higher. Sometimes when running my players would skip over it

I bought these gates to time sprints with my kids who are track athletes. I’ve been disappointed with them to say the least. These gates advertise being able to time distances up to 40-50meters, I’ve been lucky to get up to 20 meters and in most cases can’t get beyond 15! We’ve bought performance batteries as some suggest and even that hasn’t workedThe gates are also unreliable when we finally do get to a working distance they often don’t start or don’t stop. It happens far too often! If you’re serious about timing sprints, spend the money and get something more reliable. I spend a good 10-12 minutes before the workout just trying to find a distance that these dang things will work at. We’ve had lot of wasted time and unrecorded reps using these gates. If you’re a hobbyist go for it, but if you’re serious about what you’re doing look elsewhere.Very disappointed with the results we’ve had with these gates

I have had this since September. The start lasers for some reason stop the timer when they should not. The finish lasers have to be about 2 feet from each other else they do not align. The numbers fade away quite a bit and the angles to see it clearly is limited and we usually do not see the results until its too late and realize something went wrong. The screw for the tripod below the screen fell inward. Can I make it work? yes but it ruins many attempts of sprinting which if we do about 3 times a day every 2 to 3 days. There has been days where the start laser stops the test ruining the tests for the day. I would spend 400 to 600 for a system that not only works but has more functionality. Save your money.

The stands that come with the sensors are too low and having the time piece more than 20 yards away from the start or end causes frequent errors. After a little use I used buckets to prop up the sensors which helped greatly. I also started 1/3 of the way towards the middle and walked as the athlete I was timing ran so I was close enough to the end for it to work. Once I figured out a couple little tricks it worked great, but it definitely needs some tweaking to make it work as intended. Even with that being said, for the price compared to similar products I would recommend. It is not perfect, but once you play some games with it, it works very well.
