It doesn't work in my case. I have windows 10 PC and DCR-TRV17 Sony Digital Handycam. It works perfectly on my on board firewire. When I use this adapter/converter windows is displaying this message:"USB device not recognizedThe last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I'll check it on another new system (when I get) without firewire on board, if it works I'll update this review.

I needed to access files that are on my Firewire drive. I misplaced the original cable.

The power difference between fire wire and usb was not corrected with this adapter.

This product does not work. Period. Plugged several Firewire 400 devices into it and tried on 3 different Macs. All reported "Low Power" errors. Returning. Amazon should pull this product.
