The 410 stainless steel thread cutting screw has a plain finish, a Type F point style, and a pan head with a Phillips drive. The type F point is suitable for heavy gauge sheet metal, aluminum, cast iron, brass, and plastic. The screw has machine screw threads that taper down to a blunt point with multiple cutting edges and chip cavities. The 410 stainless steel material offers high strength and hardness, and resists corrosion in mild environments. The material is magnetic. The pan head has a flat top and short vertical sides with a rounded top edge. The Phillips drive has an x-shaped slot that accepts a Phillips driver and is designed to allow the driver to slip out of the head to help prevent over-tightening and damage to the thread or fastener.
Thread cutting and thread rolling screws, two types of self-tapping screws, are threaded fasteners that create a mating thread in the wall of a hole. The two screws differ from each other in the way that they create the threads. Thread cutting screws cut the wall of the hole to create the thread, creating material chips that need to be cleared away from the hole to prevent clogging. Thread rolling screws, also called thread forming screws, do not remove material but instead press against the wall of the hole to displace the material and form the threads.

Gone through a few hundred of these screws now, and I'll keep buying them.They're great quality steel (rarely ever get stripped), and they're magnetic (unlike stainless).It took me 100+ wheel swaps & fiddling with various drill bits, taps, and screws to figure out these particular screws are absolutely perfect.1st, I was wasting a lot of money on #52 drill bits & taps that BOTH KEPT BREAKING (PLUS the time it took to keep switching bits).These screws are slightly thicker than other precision screws listed under the same size... BUT - it turns out - they're PERFECT SIZE for holes drilled with 5/64" impact driver bits (Milwaukee Red Helix = way harder to break and last 20× longer).Getting an extra 1-2 mm down into the rivet pegs takes 5-10 secs longer (with the Red Helix bits PLUS EXTRA CARE TO NOT DRILL THRU INTO MY HAND 😅).... but the amount of time I save without the extra step of thread-tapping is now totally cut out.

These 410 Stainless Steel Thread Cutting Screws fit perfectly for the task I use them for. I use them to replace the post rivet on the bottom of hot wheels cars after I rebuild them.

These work okay for closing up 1/64 bodies. Good size but the material could be harder or stronger. Although self tapping, you really need to drill a pilot hole deep enoug, otherwise the screw head can be prone to breaking off the shaft if not careful in amount of torque applied.

The screws are perfect and look nice they fit perfectly under the hot wheels, as long as you make the whole big enough for the screw to fit and go all the way in they fit nicely you just have to know how do it that’s the most difficult part but overall the screw was good nice finish on it also.

Drill the rivet, disassemble, replace wheels and reassemble with these self tapping screws. They’re magic.

These screws are great for doing wheel swaps on hot wheels. Since they have a taper at the end with channels cut in like a tap, you can go undersized a bit and the threads really dig in.
