So far, no problems. Good for the price. Just archiving stuff, nothing life or death, so spending a ton of money for something more reputable might be worth it. I'm using ImgBurn and a HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH16NS40 1.03 (SATA) at 6x speeds. Everything is verified after burning. No failures yet. Ordering some more. Only downside I have is I label with a sharpie and these are dark purple, so a little hard to read. Oh well!

I used Smartbuy's 50 GB Blu-ray DL blanks to make a backup copy of a Blu-ray movie DVD using a copy program which I had successfully used in the past to make similar Blu-ray copies with another suppliers 25 GB Blu-ray blanks. While the Smartbuy copy worked OK when played back on the original DVD drive used to make the copy, I get a disk unreadable error or the like when trying to play the copy on a Samsung Blu-ray player. When I recopied the problem copy with the same copy program to another supplier's 25 GB disk, obviously requiring compression, it played w/o problems on the Samsung. Smartbuy's SD DL disks have played w/o issues on the Samsung in the past. It seems that the Samsung player is not happy with their Blu-ray DL disks. I have requested help thru Smartbuy's website, but have only obtained an automated email acknowledging receipt of my request. If my experiences change in the future, I'll update my review. This a follow-up to my original negative review. While the provider did not respond to my problem with the Samsung Blu-Ray player, they did quite responsibly and honorably authorize my return and provide a prepaid return shipping label via USPS. However, I again tried making a copy of a movie using a 50 GB disk from another manufacturer and, again, the copy played flawlessly on the drive used to make the copy, but could not be played on the Samsung player. When I recopied the 50 GB copy to a 25 GB disk, it played without problems on the Samsung. I have to conclude that the Samsung does not like 50 GB disks or I'm doing something wrong (unlikely) when making those specific copies. I have no reason to believe that the Smartbuy disks are not satisfactory and, clearly, they are quite responsible suppliers.

Excellent media for the price! Only trouble was writing on the dark purple surface. Will buy again.

I purchased 20 of these last year and they were great. Every single disc from that batch was a perfect burn. But this latest batch is defective. The first 3 right out of the box stopped at about two-thirds of the way through. My software reported that a media error was likely the cause of the failure. Thinking there might be something wrong with my burner, I tried a 50-gigabyte disc from another manufacturer and burned it without any problems. These are going back. Too bad, last year's batch worked well but these . . . are a nightmare.

These are unreliable for repeated use. They only last 3-4 writes before they become unwritable. I’ve gone through all 10 discs in this package and they all were defective. I cannot endorse this brand.
