About this item

  • MEETS OR EXCEEDS ALL ASTM C1313 STANDARDS - Class A Fire Rating (E84 with E2599 mounting). Corrosion resistance according to D3310 is achieved by a proprietary clear coating applied to the Engineered Foil surface.
  • INDUSTRIAL / COMMERCIAL GRADE - SmartFOIL Radiant Barrier is TEAR & PUNCTURE PROOF, but you can easily cut it with utility scissors. Both sides reflects 95% of the radiant heat.
  • PAYS FOR ITSELF - by reducing heating cost in winter and cooling cost in summer. Blocks 95% heat radiating from the underside of a hot roof. Save big on your utility bill.
  • EASY TO INSTALL - in existing homes or new constructions, by stapling to the bottom of rafters and over attic floor. Frequently used as House Wrap for additional insulation. Also used in barns, metal buildings, and poultry houses.
  • 1,000 SQUARE FEET ROLL - 4 feet x 250 feet BREATHABLE, PERFORATED, DOUBLE-SIDED, REINFORCED Engineered Foil radiant barrier.

Unlike traditional mass insulations like blown-in and batt cellulose/fiberglass, SmartFOIL radiant barrier blocks 95% of the radiant heat, thereby greatly reducing the amount of heat that enters a home when installed in the attic space or as a house wrap. Combined with existing mass insulation, you can significantly improve the comfort of your home, and SAVE BIG on YOUR ELECTRIC BILLS. Product works equally well in both hot and cold environment!!! Non-toxic; non-carcinogenic; fiber free; easy to install; not affected by humidity; maintenance free; does not promote the growth of fungi or bacteria; does not support nesting by rodents or insects. FIRE RATING: Class A / Class 1 (ASTM E-84) - Meets fire and smoke requirements for most local, state and federal building codes

I was super skeptical about using this, my attic has always been on the hot side, improper insulation and no fan. Figured try this. Stuff is very strong, can't tear it but cuts easily with knife or scissors. For my attic a bit of a pain stapling it to the high rafters but eh, only have to do it once.Ok so I did half my roof one day, the next day it was 85 degrees out, super humid, heat index 95 blazing sun. Went in attic with my digital thermometer. Went a foot from the roof peak and measured the temperature on the OSB side I didn't cover, it was reading 130 degrees. Directly across from it, not even two feet away, measured the temperature on the foil side, it was reading 106 degrees. 24 degree difference in basically the same spot, wow, did not expect that. This is about 15 feet up at the peak, down about 4 feet from the floor level in the attic it was still about 18 degrees difference in temperature. Now had the entire attic been done I'm sure it would be lower than the 105 degrees, I truly did not believe this would make such a difference but it did. I already have noticed a difference in the house as far as temperature and how my AC unit runs less.LOL one other slight benefit is I have a large house and large attic but only ever had just one bulb in the attic for light, well, it is 50% brighter now since the entire ceiling is basically silver and reflects that light.Highly recommend this, I used two rolls cost me about $250 and my own labor and for sure that money will be paid back within months on my heating/cooling bill.

10/10 stars for this stuff. It's very tear-resistant as it has nylon strands woven into it. Easy to cut and install, seems very durable. Definitely a good value, and makes a dramatic difference in the temperature of my attic.

Don't listen to anybody who says all radiant barriers are the same. I discovered that with this product. I purchased this to put in my workshop, which is a metal building with spray in foam insulation. I added a mini split HVAC system this summer to the shop, but could still feel heat coming from the roof. I decided to add radiant barrier to the shop, to see if that would help. I had a left over partial role of radiant barrier from a house I used it on, but not near enough to cover my shop. I used some of that on a small section of the barn ceiling and it reduced the temperature down approximately 20 degrees. I decided to go ahead and do the rest of the shop and ordered this product. After installing one small section, I checked the temperature with my infrared thermometer gun. It only reduced the temperature on an average of 8 to 10 degrees. Yes it did reduce the temperature, but not enough to make a significant improvement. And, of course, I can't return this because I've already used some of the roll. Moral of the story; Do your homework before buying radiant barrier.
