These socks are a wool blend so they keep your feet warmer in cold weather BUT they also keep them dry if it gets hot! They "breath" and are a bit anti- microbial naturally. A bit pricey but worth it to me.

Everything by this brand is a great buy , they're made extremely well and fit great inside a boot. They're heavy weight and comfortable inside winter boots and sneakers as well. I would get every color if they had more options available.

I really like the quality of these socks, as well as the looks. And they are warm. However they are too big, therefore not true to typical sock sizing. I cannot wear them in my motorcycle boots because of the fit.

I was introduced to SmartWool socks at least 25 years ago. You can read about the materials they use and the benefits that they reap on their website. My first purchase was the regular hiking sock model. A wonderful comfy sock but just thick enough that I would encourage you to size up your shoes a half size if you are a serious hiker. Then I discovered the light hiker model which I found PERFECT to wear under winter hiking shoes and boots. They are very breathable and keep my feet comfortably warm despite bad weather conditions. And I have never found a sock as comforting on a cold winter night indoors as well. In recent years they have come out with lighter models that to me are scratchier in texture. I have never purchased them for that reason. Then I found this site on Amazon that had the light hikers that I remembered for sale for the same price that they had always been. Hallejuh! Ordered them and will order another pair soon in a different color. As you can tell, I just love these socks!

Have used these regularly for hillwalking and I don't think you can beat them. The Marino wool wick sweat brilliantly and your feet don't stink at the end of a day.. or three! I wouldn't wear anything else.
