This panel is really thin and lightweight. We have several of these in varying forms around the farm. They are used to keep our batteries charged up when a piece of equipment sits idle for extended periods. I have one on my zero turn mower, a four wheeler, our UTV and on the welding machine. I try to start things up every week or so, especially during the winter to cycle the engine oil and fuel. It is so nice to walk out and hit the starter and the batteries are ready to go.I save money not having to replace batteries so often too. In fact, my welding machine battery is still going strong after years of service. It doesn't get run hard for months at a time and these little trickle charges keep the battery in shape. Awesome! The new panel is on one of our UTVs right now and moving it from battery to battery on different equipment is easy. There are four suction cups and you can stick this to your windshield inside your car or reverse them to stick on the outside of the windshield. I typically haven't used these on vehicles because it's my equipment batteries that sit for long periods of time without use. One of these would be great if you park at the airport for a few days at a time and didn't want to worry about coming back to a dead battery. There are holes in each corner of the panel and you could position the panel facing the direction to catch the most sunlight and then use a small bungie to hold it in place if you wanted. I have hung them from the back cage on the UTV and placed them on the rack on a 4 Wheeler. The mower sits under a shed roof and I lay the panel up on the roof and hook the clips to the battery. Works great. Two different SAE connectors are included so you can attach straight to the battery terminals or use the cigarette lighter (if your car allows this) to charge the battery. I usually just connect straight to the battery terminals since I am using them on equipment batteries.

Eco-worthy is a trustworthy name in solar panels, and this seems to be a high-quality product. I rarely drive my car, so I have my battery unplugged and wanted a trickle charger. I was planning to use the alligator clips with the solar panel stuck to my sunroof or dash. But I'm dumb and didn't realize the cable isn't nearly long enough to reach from the battery to the car interior. You can only use the panel inside the car with the cigarette lighter port, which doesn't work on all vehicles. To use the alligator clips the panel has to be outside, in which case maybe a waterproof panel is better. Make sure you get a high enough wattage panel for your purposes. It's very unlikely a 5w panel will charge a dead battery. And it's possible that your car uses more battery at park than this small panel can replace. Just some things to research to make sure you get the right size product, as they do come in higher watt versions. One complaint I have about this product is that the clips are too small, and difficult to get on my battery.

I hate that moment when I try starting a truck that hasn’t been moved in a while. Is it dead? Will it turn over? How many cranks will I get this time?So I ordered this little 5W panel from Eco-worthy to reduce that stress.Notes:– The front of the panel is a single piece of matte plastic that seems very tough and durable. I think this is an improvement from their earliest versions.– This panel has “anti-reversal diodesâ€, which prevent the panel from draining the battery in the dark, very important.– My car shuts off the cigarette lighter once the car is turned off, so I’ll need to use the alligator clips.– To learn how to hook it up, I watched a youtube video, “Eco-Worthy 5 and 10 Watt Solar Battery Maintainer†by Preppin’ on the Creek, which was a good basic overview and review. Seems pretty easy to hook up, so I hope it works for me too.– I also watched the youtube video “Can 10W solar panel keep a car battery charged or topped up? How do you connect it?†by more molecules. This video is the 12/2024 version– it’s the one with “how do you connect it†added to the title, not the similarly named 2022 video. This person also used an Eco-Worthy panel but hooked it up using an “OBDII to SAE adaptorâ€. I’m not planning to try that myself but it was interesting. The only other tip I have, if you have a truck sitting outside that will be unused for a while, is to pop the hood and look around before starting the truck. One year we had a mouse that shredded an air filter and unfortunately we didn’t notice until some filter material had gotten sucked in, which made for an expensive repair. I’ve heard that peppermint-oil cotton balls can be used as mouse repellents (remove them before driving) but I haven’t tried that yet.I photographed everything from the box so you can see what’s in there.
